How many shops like this can a little town have, they are dotted about all over the place. As for adamcewski, WHAT A WASTE OF SPACE!!!!(earlier post)
People say tesco will take all the sales away from the high street, what a load of rubbish, the high street is full of bunf that nobody really needs or gives a dam about. You cant get anything at a reasonable price.
Take bills for example, overpriced and not really that great. Its just a stuffy little place that all the arty middle class (think there upper class posh toffs) go to get there spuds. Because its the veg shop to be seen in.
Sort it out LEWESHIANS. YOUR MAKING OUR TOWN LOOK STUPID.
Im 22 and I love Lewes, its History its little secrets, its Hills and country side, But I hate the way its being turned into a cultural art town. Why all the galleries? Theres not much in them when you do finally get encouraged to go to one, I wasn't impressed. Why all the crap little rich womens shops?
I get really angry sometimes, I should calm down. Its not worth it really its all going down hill, Lets hope the recession really bites hard on the shops that sell this rubbish at horrific prices. Make way for some shops that people really want and need.

bills caters for posers which now walk the streets in abundance.
super inflated property prices will ensure that things won't change so get use to the bunf and posers.
think you have two choices jason, either put up and shut up or... move out.

This forum seems obsessed with discussing the usefulness or otherwise of Lewes shops. Why? There seems to be a widely held belief that a number of shops - Wickle and AdamCewski, or whatever it calls itself, spring to mind - cater only to the middle classes and no-one really wants to shop there.
So what? Let them have a go. If no-one shops there, they won't be able to pay the rent and they will disappear. It is basic natural selection. Survival of the fittest and all that.
Jason, posting above says: "Lets hope the recession really bites hard on the shops that sell this rubbish at horrific prices. Make way for some shops that people really want and need."
Well, shops that people really want and need always win out in the end. It is basic supply and demand. If no-one wants Wickle, for example, then no-one will shop in Wickle and Wickle will close.
I cannot understand why people get so exercised about the relative merits of one shop versus another. If it is no good, it will close.
Sorry, just my two pen'orth.

Jason - You clearly have the gift at rallying the Lewes forum populist vote.
Surely at 22 you should be sniffing glue, having unprotected sex or bombing around town in you Nova?
I await with bated breath your thoughts of the current parking scheme.

Well said Jason, I applaud you. You're right when you say bill's is overpriced and not even that great and adamcewski or whatever its called, i mean what the hell does it SELL??! Lewes has got a reputation (amongst many) for being overpriced, pretentious and filled with snooty cliques, but its good that there's someone level headed like you to keep things sane!!

I agree with your sentiments Jason, but back to school for you young man - your spelling and grammar could do with some improvement:
Bunf = bumf, from bum fodder - loo paper
Dam = damn
Cant = can't
There= their (there = over there; they're = they are; their = belonging to them)
Bills = Bill's (the apostrophe means it belongs to Bill)
Your= You're (you are, not your, as in belonging to you)
Its = It's (it is, not belonging to it)
Country side = Countryside
Womens = women's
Also, don't start history and hills with capitals.
Jason's obviously an intelligent person and it's a worry that our schools are letting people like him down, sending him out into the world without a decent standard of English.

Well, John Maynard Keynes, I never thought you'd show your face around here, you numpty. It is thanks to you and your ilk that our Dear Leader is pumping umpteen squiilions of tax tayer pounds into the UK economy, but to what end? I hereby challenge you to a duel outside the Gardner's at dawn tomorrow (yes, I am already dead, but that is a mere technicality).

unfortunately when these crap shops (they are not arty, just zeitgeisty) fail, they don't get taken over by something different, they get turned into homes, and we lose them altogether.
