Adam Richards was sent to prison for 14 days for persistent anti-social behavior. What a joke.

Those of us who worry that we drink too much should look at him: a litre of White Lightning for breakfast, followed by Special Brew and other fine beers throughout the day. He's been doing that for at least 20 years and is still alive and kicking. Meanwhile, I know a teetotal, vegetarian fitness freak who has stage 4 cancer. The human body is a funny thing.

@EOL - yea, I just googled him out of curiosity and can see articles dating back to at least 2000 (when he was only 30), and appeared to have a major alcohol problem back then. Not sure if he ever managed to quit at some point, but that is bound to have a huge impact on his liver (among many other organs, as well as his life in general).

His drunken state and abuse of specifically females will hardly endear himself to locals, but I still have a modicum of sympathy for the bloke. I believe it is extremely rare for a human to be beyond any sort of help or redemption (especially if that behaviour is largely controlled by alcohol), and hope he is not in that very small minority who are a total lost cause. Alcohol is about as bad as substances get when it comes to long-term addictions and consequences.

He’s threatened me a couple of times. I’m not sure why. It upset my wife. I walked away.
He was lucky I did.
He’s an idiot stop making excuses for people. He’ll have had Probation, alcohol treatment offered, various types of support. It’s not ok to shout at and threaten people

We should do what we do with other anti-social drugs, and ban alcohol. Zero tolerance.
Why do we have to put up with alcohol and the addicted losers that threaten and intimidate us law abiding subjects of this once proud nation?
There’s no good reason why alcohol shouldn’t be banned if people can’t be responsible.

There are some very good reasons why alcohol shouldn't be banned, One.
It brings in lots of tax revenue, which pays for public services, a lot of people work in brewing, distilling and the licensed trade, the vast majority of people who drink do so responsibly, pubs are often socially important for people who live alone and are a significant community asset (especially in rural areas) and many of my best recipes involve a good glug of something alcoholic.

Yea banning alcohol would be foolish and counter productive, but culturally it would be wise for us to drink less and not glamourise this drug like we do. Legalising other drugs would give people more choice as to how they unwind, relax and enjoy themselves with, with less severe consequences and booze and tobacco would not necessarily be the default recreational drug. It would also raise a monumental amount of tax revenues and reduce crime, but hey, we like our current hypocritical, failing drug laws as they stand, right?

Richards' sentence is this: 28 day prison sentence of which he will serve 14 days in and 14 days on licence when he comes out. The police also managed to get the full injunction for three years which is great considering the national guidelines for a Civil Injunction recommend a maximum of a year.
What is quite disappointing is that very few comments have focused on his disgusting attitudes and (allegedly) sexually violent actions against women and girls - after all, who really cares if he drinks himself to death? What is important is protecting our womenfolk from him. Isn't it?
What is needed is for more people to be prepared to make statements to the police, film him drinking in the streets, hassling women etc. I know at least three women who have had serious problems with him and yet have not done anything about it. I have made two statements to the police in an effort to get him off the streets, but we need more. Because he has a 3 year injunction, any reports of breaches will count against him legally and hopefully he will keep on being sent to prison hopefully for longer each time.
I am a man and I totally support the #me too campaign but we as a town need to come together to sort this out - the few who have made statements need your assistance. Go see Bob at the front desk at Lewes Police station and he will tell you the name of the coordinating officer - I would but I haven't asked his permission.
Let's not be druv by such a disgusting excuse for a human being that is Adam Richards.
