Did anybody think of public transport, investment in infrastructure or provision of local employment and services to reduce the need to travel? No.
I seriously think any growing business in the Lewes area should allow for the fact that Lewes may have a congestion charge or similar form of road pricing within the next 10 years.

Just been on the radio that despite overwhelming opposition ministers are pressing ahead with road pricing schemes. Ahh Is that the sound of democracy taking its last breath. I would like to leave this orwellian state in waiting before it gets too late.

This could be a good thing, it will effectively price the poor off the roads freeing up valuable parking spaces for the more solvent shoppers. They are the demographic least likely to have valid insurance/mot/tax and are generally a menace.
Good for the environment, good for business.
WIN WIN!

Yes Yes Congestion Charge for Lewes, great idea, push shoppers to visiting large Asda's on the outskirts of Brighton instead of shopping in Lewes! Great! and all the bypasses that will need to be built to avoid entering town with congestion charges. Excellent.

Good shout Super K. There are too many shoppers in Lewes. I think there should only be one car per household as well. The public transport is good enough to get to the surrounding towns like Newhaven and Peacehaven for work.

It's all so predictable. Public consultation sop, democracy hah!, another raise in indirect taxes, another badly thought out, muddled policy that will have the reverse effect that it's supposed to have.
How did we end up in this deplorable state? Do we really deserve such mediocre leaders?
Roll on the riots..... well, after I've got the latest iPod/Wii/Widescreen TV/4 by 4 maybe.
