Leave Lewes?

Lived in Lewes all my life. Want to move to a bigger house (3 bed) with a large garden. Thinking that to achieve this I will have to move to outside Lewes. I would consider Ringmer, Uckfield, Chailey, Burgess Hill. Any other suggestions? Budget 300-350K.
Basically I want peace and quiet and to be within walking distance of a primary school. Any views on the places mentiond? I'm not fussed about shops (a Tesco nearby will do, I'm not into French string, alpaca jumpers or handmande candles).

I have a nice 3 bed on the Nevill with large garden. Very peaceful, Wallands school a couple of hundred yards away and a couple of local shops. It's not for sale as I like it here, but others do come on the market regularly.

The alpaca jumpers/handmande candles joke has been done at least 4 times this morning already. It was mildly amusing the first time round, not anymore.

You can get a three bed place in Barcombe for £350k. Lovely village too, especially if you want peace and quiet (there are no £350k houses near the Anchor)

There are a few houses for sale up Nevill Estate at the moment,
Reasonable sized gardens and houses.
Very peaceful area

We moved to Burgess Hill last year after 6 years in Malling and are very glad we did.
I'm a DFL, although I have family who have lived in Lewes since about 1950. Lewes changed even in the short time we were there and we didn't like the way it was going (we don't all like twine!)
It's not as beautiful here, but there's everything we need and we got a massive amount more house for our money (detached, garage, 2/3 receptions and 3/4 bedrooms, largish garden and a lovely quiet road for under 250k).

Thanks for the feedback. I have a 80ft garden up Malling. But my idea of a large garden is bigger than that, and bigger than most that come with the semis up the Nevill...

Houses bordering railway lines can often have larger gardens, so it might be worth looking out for that on google maps when choosing an area.
We looked in Plumpton but after a few false starts gave up and widened our search.
I guess the other issue you'll have is that a VERY big garden will be viewed as a possible development plot ...
Good luck

Oh and I highly recommend the Property Bee plugin for Firefox if you're interested in how long a place has been on the market and what changes in price there have been.
