i don't think it's changed hands, just it's name. i went last week and it was just as bad as all the italian chains. It's a pitty, what lewes needs is good independent resturants. What has lewes got to do to get a decent italian?

I haven't been there but Prezzo is supposed to be ok.
If you Google it there is a new 2 for 1 voucher to print.
Or go onto Martin Lewis's moneysaving website and find the restaurant deals.
There are always loads of vouchers on there.
Got his E mail through this morning and one that caught my eye is a deal in Yo Suchi in Jubilee Street in Brighton. Check it out and save some cash!

I personally reckon that if you're overly dissapointed in the food at Prezzo then you'll struggle to find an Italian restaurant anywhere that lives up to your standards. I've not been to Lazzatis in a while but I've not heard anything bad about it recently. Was it the food that was bad or the service or what?

I'm not overly impressed with any of the Italian restaurants in Lewes, I liked Ask when we went for xmas dinner but the rest aren't anything to write home about.
We're more Chinese takeaway people anyway lol, Carnival takeaway (Fisher Street) is SCRUMMY

I have been disappointed the last couple of times I have been to Lazzattis. The food was ok but the menu was SO boring and uninspiring. I like both Prezzo and ASK, they knock spots off of the independant.

would it be cynical of me to think that this thread might be a promotion by a Lazzatis rival?

Geoff - how can you be so cynical. You know that kind of thing only happens here about twice a month. Trouble is they always read like an exercise by a first-year marketing student.

Geoff, do you really think the multi millionaire owners of ASK, Prezzo and Pizza Express are threatened by a restaurant that seats about 20/30 people????? I think eatforengland may actually be a spy from Yummy Yummy.

I went to Lazzatis recently and it was great, I much preffer it to the chains as I'm not keen on boil in a bag sauces etc. I like my food to be fresh! service was good too.

Went to Lazzatis a couple of Saturday's ago with the kids (they eat free before 6) and it was pretty good. Nice fresh pizzas all round, a bucket of crayons for the little uns, and really pleasant hassle-free service that made us feel very welcome. They were very quick with kids meals too which is a godsend as any parents will tell you.

Roly Mo, I didn't mention any restauant specifically, because could be some idiot staff member of anywhere. Logic doesn't come into it. Lest we forget the Chaula's debacle, or the Station St baguette scandal.
Is there really somewhere called 'Yummy yummy' oh God, my Tummy wummy. Geoffy weoffy need sicky wicky bag.

Geoff, you're making things up. Or are you being ironic and I'm just being a bit thick? The Chaula's debacle? The Station Street baguette scandal? What about the White Hart bread roll fiasco, the Seasons mung bean fracas, the House of Friendship zimmer riot to name but a few?

LOL. Nice post Sashimi! personally I like Prezzo and also have to agree with Keeley, Carnival is fantastic for Chinese takeaway! What I would love to find is a place in Lewes to have lunch which has gluten-free food in the menu. Bread, bread everywhere!

I went to Lazzatis a few weeks ago. Food average but the staff are excellent and very attentive!
Apart from my little 2 year old who kept making a run for it out of the front door into the busy road! I had a very enjoyable lunch.
