Law abiding who cares?

Picture the scene, youve worked hard all your life, youve paid for your house, been a law abiding citizen, nearing retirement youre hoping for some peace, and one day pass on your house and possesions to your children. Only something has happened "travellers" have bought a piece of land nearby, paid for in cash, and in no time an "encampment" has been established, with all the accompanying anti social behaviour. Who now is going to purchase the house you have worked a lifetime to buy? Youre house is worthless!, Who wants to live next door to a travellers/gypsy site?

I wouldn't have a particular problem with it. In the vast majority of cases (and I accept that there are exceptions)if you treat people with respect they will treat you likewise. Conversely if you treat people like animals don't be surprised if they act like animals. It is a well known fact that the fear of crime is greater than the likelyhood of the crime occurring and the same is probably true of "encampments". If you leave the travellers to get on with their lives (which most people do not undestand and are therefore scared of) they are almost certainly going to leave you to get on with yours. And if the only thing you have to worry about in your life is the value of your house then you are very lucky indeed.

What "respect" was shown to the local farmer who came on this forum, having had equipment stolen by travellers was told the Police , they could not enter the travellers site until the gypsy liason officer turned up, by which time, the items have been sold on. Perhaps you would have liked to retrieve his goods for him? What respect is shown when they arrive uninvited on other peoples land? Where do these "fruit pickers" and "lucky heather sellers" get the money to purchase luxury cars? Why are they allowed to get away with not paying road duty or have their vehicles insured? Name me one site they have left, which was in a tidy state, i suppose they leave rubbish everywhere because of the "respect" they have for the land. Yes the value of somebodies house is important, especially when it becomes worthless over night, perhaps you would like to buy it off them?

Law. I have to abide by it. Why do other ethnic minorities not. HHHMMM firle springs to mind. Again recently there has been a lot said in the papers about the wrongs of the "gipsies/travellers". Now "gipsy" elders claim we are blaming them all for the minority. But on the other hand they claim to live by their own rules. In which case why don't the majority sort out the minority in their own community and prove that they wan't to be part of decent society. I agree PAEX the fear of crime is far more likely than the crime itself but you cannot push aside the facts that are underlying. I knew people in saltdean when the gipsies moved onto the tye. Burglary increased by an extraordinary ammount. After a few reports were never bothered to be investigated by the police the residenst gave up. This has been the same the country over and now Dick head Prescott has legalised it. It does seem an incredible coincidence that every time these so called law abiding (just want to live my life the way i choose) people move into the area, crime escalates beyond the normal rates. Again i say I have to abide the laws of this country why do other ride roughshot over them and get away with it. Do the gipsies pay council tax ? Who pays for their LEGAL campments ? My council tax thats who. I'm sorry but if you wan't to live and be a part of this sinking ship that is called britain you should share the burden like we all have to. If not bugger of back to Ireland. oops you can't can you because they outlawed the gipsy way of life.

I don't think its a sinking ship at all.
The suicied rate is the lowest its been for years
general affluence is up
The NHS is in a better condition thatn it has been for years
Its so lame to run the current government down for the sake of it

I don't run them down for the sake of it. Myself and millions of others have genuine gripes that the government need to take notice of. Politics and politicians are so far removed from the real world now. In all honesty none of the current political parties are any cop at all. They all lie so they can get their hands on the honeypot which is the public purse. Just as a footnote i get the impression that you are a dedicated labour supporter smiler because your post does sound like party political propoganda (no offense meant, its just an observation)
