Are there any laundromats in Lewes that offer eco-friendly options such as energy-efficient machines or environmentally-friendly detergents?

The only one in town is in Cliffe High Street, under the bridge, you'll have to take your own detergent but it is free and totally eco friendly and gravity powered with lunar assistance on the ebb tide.

You have to climb over coffee tables and a wall to get to it as well.

I'm always amazed to see posts like that Frank. I assumed there were only 2 people who ever used the forum. Myself and Tom who also logged on as green so that he could have a debate with someone. I also assumed he was the only person who ever gave himself ticks.
It's always possible that you are also another alias of Tom of course as is Junaid raza and the old mayor. Maybe I'm just an invention of Tom as well.
After all these years he's finally got to me. Maybe there really is a conspiracy.
Anyway, why do you read this but not have an opinion on Mrs fox or the medieval warming period to share with Tom and anyone else who might exist (or not)?

Unfortunately since Webbo was forced to censor the forum and everyone had to register themselves to be able to post it has all got very boring. The rise of TP has drowned out any serious debates and he never fails to try and dominate discussions with his tedium. This place used to be full of wonderful characters (I met the real Mrs Twine the other day). I think there is no way to come back and recreate those days but please rename Lewes Forum to Tom Pain forum because that is what it has become.

I do get the occasional tick from Baskerville, my west highland terror when he returns bedraggled from a week's sheep worrying but I just laugh it off. What worries me is the sewage and lavatory paper outbreak in School Hill. Private Gulley, missing without leave since being press-ganged by the RNLI is the chief suspect in this malodorous affair. Police warn the public not to approach him unless wearing rubber gloves and a NHS surplus face mask. I just hope that none of my vintage gold monogrammed paper, manufactured by Bronco, printed by Baxters, is among the detritus. It's one thing to air one's dirty linen in public but a line must be drawn somewhere.

Alrighty folks, let's cut the comedy for a sec and talk business - what if I become the laundry king of Lewes? Will my pockets be overflowing with cash or will I be left with nothing but lint in my pockets? Plus, let's not forget the added bonus of being able to wash my own unmentionables in my very own establishment - talk about a clean getaway! wink wink

If run efficiently, a laundromat can be profitable if it is situated in a busy area with a loyal clientele. The likelihood of success in this sector can be increased by carrying out market research and creating a strong business plan.
Location, operational costs, and customer demand are just a few of the variables that affect how profitable a laundry business is. In general, a well-located and professionally run laundromat can be a successful business.

Yeah, you seem to be taking this seriously, but I will soon launch a business. Pros or downsides, if any?

Laundromats offer a valuable service, bring in a consistent income, and only need a small number of employees. For absentee owners, they may also serve as a passive investment.
The price of starting a business can be expensive, and location, utility prices, and market competitiveness all affect profitability. Other recurring costs include maintenance and repairs.
Simply do some research before beginning a business; there is a great deal of knowledge on Google. You can read here

There is to be a laundromat at the top of de Montfort road until about 20 years ago when the building was pulled down for new housing. No idea if it was viable. The question is where do people who don't have washing machines go now.
Interesting to see France recently where many supermarkets have coin operated washing machines under cover in their car parks. Lots of practical benefits to that. Lower overheads,, easy parking for customers, shop while you wash.

I think its a great idea ! But I do think there should be easy access for parking, as folk will maybe travel from out of town too, and Lewes is NOT parking friendly. and they will have a sack of washing to do., Horse blankets can be heavy !!! Vandalism should also be considered, another Lewes problem unfortunately, the darker under belly of this quaint county town ! Good Luck
