For those of you that don't know the Post Office at Landport Stores in under threat of closure. Loads of people not just in Landport use this service and even if you don't the queues at our one sole remaining PO will irritate you when they get even bigger so if you want to make an objection you can join us on a march on Thurs 13th Dec from Landport Stores to the main PO, or meet us there to all queue up and buy one stamp. Set off at 10.30 to arrive at 11am. Will post more nearer time. Fight Back and help the community.

Absolutely disgraceful. It wouldn't be so bad if the main PO was in a more accesible place like down the bottom of town, on a bus route etc.
I use landport post office a lot for everything from sending parcels...sometimes pretty heavy, to getting cash out to buying my fishing licence.
Fortunately, i don't have a problem walking up school hill....it's more of an inconvienience for me but it'll be a major issue to the elderly or disabled.
There is also a petition in Landport stores for those who want to sign it....not that it'll do any bloody good.

And to think it's a Labour govt doing it. It doesn't matter if privatisation may have started with our heroic friend Maggie, Labour have had plenty of time to change things. Labour used to be 'good services, high taxes' now they are 'shrinking and expensive services', 'even higher taxes' and 'treat the electorate like ignorant scum'. We need more outlaws like the courageous fellow that blows up parking-meters.

Ok so my plan needs some fine tuning..... how about blowing up all roads leading into Lewes and replacing the castle cannons with anti-aircraft guns, that way no-one will be able to interfere with Lewes life and we can have a hundred post-offices if we want.

How about marching on Dec 13th? I'm all for it. Since I moved here 9 years ago the po in Southover has gone, and Western Road, and the one that used to be at the back of WH Smiths. Landport is the last 'local' one left isn't it? After that it's long long queues at the only one left in the High St. It's already bad enough in there as it is.
The more people turn up then the more coverage in the press we'll get which means local councilors will be asked to quote and may be Norman Baker might get involved. All this will put the decision makers on the spot and at least they may have to justify their decisions.

Well if there's going to be a march around Lewes, are burning torches going to be involved? If so, would you like me to blow up a couple of parking meters? Anyway, it all seems too much fuss about post offices. I mean, whats so special about a stamp shop? I can get stamps down my p4ki shop and I can post my 'Kebabs from around the world' magazine membership renewal in the post box outside. Who needs the shop?
