A question to satisfy my curiousity: Whilst watching the darts on TV I remembered the times I used to go to Landport Social Club as a kid in the late seventies and watch inter counties matches which often featured the top players of the day. Why did the place close down and end up being demolished as it didn't seem to be up for many years?

As I recall, there was a lot of bad management and trouble particularly at weekends with visitors from out of town. The building structure deteriorated to the point that renovation was going to cost more than the building was worth, and so it was demolished.

Thank you. I find it strange that the structure deteriorated that much, though, as it really didn't seem that old. I recall it being quite a nice club and hall.

Loved going there for the wrestling on a Friday night. Played snooker there and joined the darts team. Was sad to see it knocked down.

Eric Bristow et al played down there when London came to play Sussex. Great days.
