I'm sure the supermarkets will have sold out of eggs and tomatoes in preparation for her arrival as well.
But yea, "Katie Hopkins" goes quite appropriately with "sold out".

I hope the protests don't ruin the other talks by less controversial but much more interesting and erudite speakers. I think Marc must have considered Hopkins as good for publicity but I am now thinking it could backfire and scare off people who just enjoy interesting lectures for the layperson. It would be tragic if LSF gets linked to this sort of image.
I've been to past events and you could often chat to the authors informally before and after as they attended the other talks themselves.

It's such a waste, giving air space to the purveyor of such destructive and cynical content. In our distorted world people like Hopkins get all too much attention. I think the organiser should've thought carefully about what he was doing. After all Hopkins' nastiness has been well publicised recently so there's no excuse at all. If he was after reflected publicity for this event then I hope it does backfire. And what about the other speakers who were more than ready to share a stage with her? Basically it stinks. I don't buy the 'free speech' stuff. We live in a world that's brimful of anger speech and false news. We certainly don't need a rabble rouser in our midst. I really think that Hopkins doesn't necessarily believe all she says. It seems to be populist spewing just to attract notoriety without any regard for ultimate effect. All together this is an unhappy event that should be stopped. That action would be protecting freedoms not denying them.

Why cant you let people make up their own minds?
Why do you feel the need to protect people?
I would expect that most people who go to the speakers festival are quite capable of making their own judgements, what are you so afraid of?

I'm all for her being ridiculed in public once again. It doesn't particularly impact her though, as she is a narcissist and attention-seeker, with an "any publicity is good publicity" mindset, but as with demagogue clowns like Trump, it makes the petty core arguments she raises, even less credible.
Although I'd give Katie Hopkins at least the credit that she probably knows what she is doing and knows she is a phoney for the sake of her "career".

Once again, no one is stopping her from giving a talk on Lewes. She can hire a private venue. But NOT a council owned one. The Town Council has a legal duty to promote good race relations. They are failing in that duty if they allow All Saints to be used for this purpose.

Led by Pedro what a nasty bunch of people come on this forum. Quite incredible they're unable to even recognise their own bile but quite happy to spout accusations at all and sundry who don't match their middle class leftie opinions.
Apologies to the few on here with a fair and open mind you are the exception
