Jenny Rowlands' huge salary

Anyway, should the allegations be true, it was essentially him who decided Ms Rowlands was worth twice the same money as six teachers. He also at one point was pushing for her to hold a dual role as chief exec of both LDC and Brighton City Council but luckily he didn't have enough willing lackies on that council to strong-arm that one through. There were rumours at the time of a more personal relationship between Cllr Page and Ms Rowlands which I have no doubt were entirely malicious and unfounded and the guy I know who is fairly high up in the local Conservative Association said there was absolutlely no truth to them whatsoever and they definitely weren't having an affair, honest, and besides for the leader of the council to be having a personal relationship with the supposedly a-political cheif exec would be a terrible scandal and how dare anyone suggest such a thing.

Personal (And compeltely unethical) rumours aside, the huge sack of cash she pockets every month would be almost entirely attrubuted to Mr Page if the allegations are correct. Whether you blame the Tories for letting him act like he ran the District alone for so long or blame the LibDems for not trying to stop him then endorsing his behaviour by signing him up is your own choice but corruption and incompetance on local councils round here is hardly a new thing and it might be nice for someone other than the Tories or LibDems to have a go at running LDC to see if they can manage to do it for the benefit of the electorate rather than themselves.
