Just phoned them enquiring about a replacement screen for a tablet not at all helpful i gave them the make and model for them to look it up and the guy said it would cost more than the tablet was worth to fix it the tablet cost about £250. I phoned another shop in Hove who have given a quote of £70 to fix the screen this is the reason people are no longer willing to shop and support their local shops way to exspensive feels like a rip off.

Went to the computer shop in Rottingdean a few years back and got a quote of around £700 to fix the logic board in my aging Mac book pro. Went to the place on Queens Road near the clock tower in Brighton and the guy charged me £150 to repair the old one.. worked a teat.

Sorry I'm confused, you called them, they gave you a price (and they recommended financially not worth it), you got a cheaper price elsewhere and you're upset because? You understand we live in a capitalist society and you know what that means?

Also worth adding they might use genuine parts not knock offs from China.

Had Mac problem and Iconic were as their name and a very reasonable price. As someone says it’s a business and they have costs to cover etc. Customer service cannot be faulted in my view.

"genuine not from China" - think we might not be dealing with an expert here

Yes couldnt agree more and I was in Waitrose and they sell £20 bottles of wine, what a complete rip off I managed to get one for £4 from Aldi. Hey and guess what, no one forced me to buy the £20 bottle, I was free to look in other shops and buy elsewhere. Should I post up here every time I find two shops selling what appears to be the same item for different prices?

Also, dewdroppy, buy researching. Finding and purchasing and then taking delivery of said item you have done some of the work. Or are you just one of these consumers who just think all that happens for free and by magic. I doubt the LSE is missing you.

Is the device insured amd is the business that quoted you £70 insured ?
Have you confirmed the digitiser behind the screen is still functional ?
I would be very worried about that quote knowing what it takes to replace a screen on a phone or tablet.
Please do pop back and review the quality of the repair, if they ever manage to do it.
I'd take the word of the professional and save yourself the heart ache if it all going wrong. Cut your losses by buying new or a manufacturer refurb to save a few squiddles
