Thanks to the F***king idiots around Forfars/Cliffe bridge area tonight, my young boy wanted to have a look at the banners down the cliffe but we couldnt get onto Cliffe bridge because oif the F**king muppets blowing things up, young school kids dropping bangers down the drains, and the person who left there bike outside Forfars, well its been blown up now. These are the people who give bonfire a bad name, and the Cliffe will get the blame. I do hope the CCTV camera has picked them all out.

Blame it on the Socialists. They're the ones who do the most damage and act in a frightfully irresponsible manner. Look at Viscount anthony Wedgewood Benn. An intellectual vandal of the worst sort.

I agree with Bang Bang that cliffe will get the blame but I think it would be wise for policing/security to be involved to prevent (inexperienced/not taught bonfire law-safety) youngsters from having rookies and behaving dangerously with them. This year was particularly bad for teenagers with them and maybe the retailers need to be looked into for that too. I didn't feel safe at quite a few points tonight and never experienced that before, as a long term (non dfl) cliffe resident and member

I think its unfair that where anything like this happens a group of people are blamed. Most societys at a hole do notencourage people to throw foreworks in fact quite the oppisite. most societys are aggainst it. because they like to keep them family friendly.
Of course dont get me wrong there are 'some bonfire boys and girls' who like the activity. mad as they are.
It alway annoys me when someone is anti something and doesnt think about the their responce. lets ban it all, tends to be the only thing they think of.
more people are harmed by cars that fireworks though so far i havent heard anyone trying to ban them.
with any big event there is always an injury, and even small.but the good that they do tend to outwave the bad. Thousands have been been given to charities through bonfire. meaning thosands of people have had help.
its like a sussex paper saying that the stabbing was to do with nevill bonfire, when it clearly wasnt. it just happened on that night. Its a bit like saying its bonfire soceitys fault that i burnt my hand on a sparklers last year.
the only thing that will stop these sorts of things is to stop the public sale of fireworks. so if those who are anti want to do something good then start there. because i can tell you this. Those stupid children throwing fireworks didnt get them from the societys.

Sorry, I can't agree with much of what you've said.

The societies set the standard for Lewes bonfire night. The crowd would not think it acceptable to throw rookies if the societies had not done it first and made it so.

The kids on the street outside of the evening of the fifth need to be policed. Throwing rookies is illegal. Where the hell are the the police?

Banning the sale of fireworks would put an end to those wonderful family bonfire nights (the ones with a few friends/neighbours and their kids, a bonfire, a guy, potatoes roasting in the fire. and a small firework display). For me and many other these are the truly wonderful bonfire events (and as numerous bonfire boys have said here, families with young children are not welcome at Lewes bonfire). Banning the sale of fireworks is not an option.

Rookies are not fireworks. Banning fireworks would not do anything to stop people buying rookies.
If you think the government banning things can stop bonfire then you need to learn your history.
