went out for a stroll the other evening (21:00) and blow me if I didn't nearly get hit by a bat - only yards from town centre (for me it is the precinct outside Superdrug Smiths Specsavers et al (neat aliteration what?)) - not a scally with a sports implement mind you rather a Pipistrelle I imagine - Good Old Lewes - there were four of the little blighters swooping around about 8' off the ground when I stopped and let my eyes adjust for 20 minutes or so - then walked on to the Gardeners

Years ago,I went on a 'Bat walk' in the railway land and the pipistrelles were out in force and we were shown where they lived...In some of the (then) derelict riverside buildings.Nice to know they are still active....
