I'm just not a fan of it myself. Definitely think the industry needs more regulation, and also it would be nice if it contributed more in taxation to serve the community better and at least try to offset any negatives it brings.

The competition commission is strict on mergers between bookies.
I agree it's galling to hear about the massive rewards given to some of the owners of betting companies like bet 365 but that applies to lots of bosses of all sorts of companies. I agree we should be taxing all these people a lot more but I think it's wrong just to pick on betting companies.

I doubt very much that betting advertising increases overall gambling much but it's main purpose is to deter new companies from joining the industry as their start up advertising costs would need to be high which is why the betting companies didn't want advertising banned.
