Can someone please explain to me how this Restaurant isn't packed every night?
Was in there last night and again had a fantastic, filling meal (that wasn't from a mainstream italian!). Yet the place was empty.
Why is this local business not better surported?

That location is not the best for a restuarant. When Circa was there it was often empty. Guidos food is very good.

Wouldn't go there....just too far out of town for me. Nothing personal !!!

Mark.... If you don't like tex mex, why go to a tex mex restaurant? I don't like french food, result I don't eat in french restaurants, wouldn't slag them off though!
Andy, Thats just lazy where in town do you live that you can't walk to the bottle neck?. Yet looking back you eat at the Shanaz 100 meters down the road! Quote "Never had noting but good food and good service"
Your choice but your missing a good food.

Circa was probably the worst restaurant I've ever been in. The head waiter was in equal measure snooty & slimey, the food was remarkably underwhelming and the place was cold - I had to put my coat back on.
I'd wish any Tex-Mex all the best, If there wasn't one at the bottom of the road here, I'd be really hacked off for moving away now.
Technically, being beyond Westgate (if only just), I guess it is 'out of town', although saying its 'too far' is rather stretching things.

If you say so Andy but Guido's Bar and Restaurant is always empty the food is not up to my standards and i will never go there again there are a lot better places in Lewes to enjoy a meal still, if your expectations are not high then go there see for yourself.

I wasn't questioning the quality of the restaurant Ron.....it was the fact that you were fed up with talking about the restaurant in a Lewes discussion forum so everyone else had to move on and not discuss it.

There are alot of better places to eat in town if you like pizza and Paste.
Ask is OK
Pizza Express is exactly the same as ASK
Prezzo's is exactly the same as Pizza Express (except the foods CR4P
Patio Pizza (or whatever its called now) can't comment never eaten there.
Bejing and Panda Grardens are OK
Spice merchant seems to be great if you eat in but abit ropy on the takeaways.
Diljaj and Shanaz OK. But the places in Landsdown place rubbish!
I'm leaving out fish n chip, and Kebabs.
Atleast Guido's food is of a different Style to the rest of the town and if you haven't eaten there recently (since the new chefs) then your judging it on false pretences. A new chef is as good as new owners.

The location of Guidos is fantastic, with those huge windows displaying the whole of the interior, this is the sort of place people drive past and see pretty much all the time they come through Lewes, it is just off the main high street, but not too far away to say its difficult to get to!
The reasons i believe that Guido's doesnt do well are the following:
The interior of the restauruant, with only yellow napkins a knife and fork, and unattractive salt and pepper mills on the tables, it isnt the sort of place that you walk ast and think, wow that looks fantastic! 1st apprearances are eveything!
The service, when i eat there once, wasnt great, our drinks to ages to arrive, the waiter slammed out bottle of wine down on the table etc..
If they had some live music, more appealing and aesthetic things, better service etc... it would get the punters in! Also the forever changing menu and wether its open or closed or open, or closed again or redecoration etc... makes it an unrealiable and therefore undesirable place to choose to eat! When it first opened i said to my sister i didnt think that Guido's would last, it needs someone with a real drive and passion to get it there and give it a REAL makeover, and reagain public trust. The food, when i eat there the once, was very good, couldnt fault that, but everything else as mentioned above, made my mind up on the place straight away! If they want a new restaurant manager, here i am!!Ha
