Can you please recommend a good hotel or B&B in Lewes? Definition of Good: Very clean, individual courteous friendly spot on and fast service, proper room preferably modern but also traditional if hasn't got a creeking bed, high speed internet, good food (preferably individually served vs buffet but as long as it's good quality it's ok), nice setting and view (e.g. garden view room) and properly maintained e.g. rather no aircon than a rattling one.
From reading reviews, Shelleys is the favourite so far.
White Heart's out, wouldn't let my dog eat or sleep there (if I had one).
Pelham House is a No too as it also has horrid reviews
Nice well kept secret boutique B&B I have missed?
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Some friends of mine stayed at Millers in the High Street and loved it.

Why should IF be fussy wanting decent service, food and extras?
I would demand the same and would be willing to pay for it.
I agree with the White Hart being no good.I use the gym there sometimes and the smell that comes from the dining area always is rather stale...
I would not stay there.Think Shelleys is your best bet.

Thank you lovely people for the comments so far. Millers sounds good ACT.
Agree Anon, but only experienced it the otherway round, smell of pool bleach in the dining area. But I did like the attention of detail they paid to the faeces painting on the gents cubicle wall. Any more of these little hidden special places?

Can't recommend Shelleys enough! Fantastic place and well worth the extra it might cost above the others. Can't comment on their broadband facilities as never had the need to use them.
Other than that you'll have to look out of town.

Has anyone ever stayed at The Dorset? The photos on their brochure makes the accomodation look shocking, but at least they do a good pint and the chippy isn't too far away.

We stored my Mother-In-Law-To-Be into the Dorset and I felt sorry for her afterwards. Rooms are alright but more of the sort of place when your car breaks down in a great thunderstorm in the middle of night with nowhere to go in a 30mile radius. Overpriced on spot, cheaper on the web.
