Roll on the moron's cliche competition:
overpaid prima donnas (10 points)
Lampard & Gerrard can't play together (7 points)
my pub team could do better (5 points)
we should have an English manager (5 points)
if Lampard's goal had been allowed we would have won (3 points)
Rooney wasn't fit (2 points)
James was the only decent player (2 points)
I am sure there are others.....

I'm as much an England supporter as anybody, plus of course The Arsenal, but cannot imagine how or why andbody expected us to win today. Just look at the previous 3 games we played. Very lucky against the USA and Algeria and only managed to beat a second rate international team, Slovinia, by 1 goal. Alan Hanson said it was at last a good result and that we could have had 5 or 6 goals, fact is we only managed 1 so what chance did we stand against the German? None in my opinion, don't get me wrong, I am as sick as any other supporter but the men playing for us sorely need to know that they are simply not very good on the international stage. When I think of some of the truly great English teams I have watched over the years this lot should creep back into the UK in the middle of the night. The Algerian game was unquestionably the worst English team performance I have ever witnessed. And whilst I am not normally a person for knee-jerk reactions Fabio has, as a matter of honour, to resign (hopefully without an obscene golden handshake)

It wasn't crap...........It wasn't as good as that!!!
The fact is our Premiership superstars are simply not up to the job. They think they are the best around because their clubs throw £100k a week at them, but on the world stage they are clearly third rate. Overpaid, overhyped, overrated pampered spoilt prima donnas.
Roll on the new season of REAL football at The Pan.

Breakfast TV this morning has been discussing whether Capello would resign. Why wouldn't he? In this World Cup he has been responsible (along with the players) for, almost certainly, the worst English team display ever against Algeria. The worst ever performance in a World Cup over the four games by an English team, which includes our greatest ever defeat, 4 - 1.
The pundits are suggesting he will not resign but will go if paid off, which will cost the FA £10-12m. Littlejohn comes to mind "You couldn't make it up"

rubbish Rookie. If all the FA resources weren't wasted on all the hundreds of silly little clubs like Lewes there would be much more available to invest in football academys to bring on young English players. Clubs like Lewes are a burden on the system and need seriously thinning out. The professional game is the only game worth watching.

never read so much rubbish Gooner.
It's the little teams that develop players who get snapped up by the bigger clubs.

Gooner must be so proud - I mean all them Arsenal boys: Bentdner, van Persie, Gallas, Sagna: they've really lit up the whole World Cup with their silky skills, haven't they?

Not.

I would rather watch a bunch of young Lewes lads, proud to wear the shirt and playing their hearts out for next to nothing than those supposed premiership superstars in the World Diving Championship.........er........sorry I meant World Cup. It's obviously not your scene Gooner so run along and support your overpaid idols.

Supporter. when did Lewes ever produce a player who went on to a big club? Never. Little clubs are a waste of time. the game in this country needs streamlining by the FA by ditching non league football completely and concentrating solely on the pro game and developing youngsters for it and the england team

Oh dear!! As a fellow gooner of some years I cannot agree with you. Many fine footballers have come for example from schools. In fact school boy internationals are amongst the finest games you will watch. Over the years there have a number of footballers that have been discovered playing non-league football. One you will, as a gooner, know very well, the great Ian Wright. Discovered at the age of about 21 by Crystal Palace going on to play for the Arsenal and England very successfully. The name escapes me now but there was a school teacher discovered by Liverpool years ago that was a great player and of course there are many others.
Without school and lower level football those with the talent would not be seen to then be picked up by the professional clubs. If every amatuer club in the country were disbanded how do you believe young, talented players would come to the notice of the professional clubs?
One last point that I have argued for years. Too many young players, once signed up to clubs, have their natural skills and talents coached out of them. I don't think any club should be allowed to sign up young players until they reach the age of 15. Currently they are snapping them at as early as 10 years old.

Gooner - every single serious football analyst in the nation recognises that the problems in English football stem from the fact that the Premier League and the 'big' clubs have too much money and a chronic inability to develop young English talent. The only people who disagree with this are part time muppets on local message boards with their replica shirts and Sky TV packages. Lewes FC goes into nearly every primary school in Lewes, weekly, and runs training schemes. How many schools does your Arse do that for in Islington, hmm? None - because they'd rather buy kids from Ghana or Tashkent or wherever. Please stop embarrassing yourself with your laughable comments.
