How much should I expect to pay for a garden fence to be supplied and put up, approx 20metres long, panels the highest you're allowed in a garden.
Does anyone have an idea?

About 2 years ago I paid £333 for 15m of the panels with upright slats and wooden posts cemented in.

6' panels, you need 8' posts (2' in the ground ofc), cost completely depends on what quality fence you want, I think you're referring to post and rail, but this is labour intensive and you do need a professorial to get a good job if it's not flat. Price, good luck with that, as per fricking usual people will want £250-300 a day.

What do you think these people should charge a day? You know everything's so you go and do it. I never knew that some of the post had to go in the Ground!

Not if you use a Metpost. They are better because they don't rot. Fencing can be an enjoyable diy job and quite easy if you use metposts and have the right tools. The guys at AVS Fencing in Ringmer are very helpful.

As the OP clearly says he wants it supplied AND PUT UP. Yes fencing is a diy job for some, but not every can dig 10 2' deep holes. The reason for explaining about the post lengths is because sadly a lot of "professionals" will cut corners. And finally no I don't think someone who is only intelligent enough to dig holes for a living should be earning £250-300 a day, I wouldn't pay it.

I doubt that a fencer earns that kind of money. More likely the total labour cost for a 10 metre fence will be about £300, for two people, one day, or one person two days.

I'd like to see you dig the holes and put 20 metres of post and rail up in 1-2 days, I had 35 metres done last year and it took the guy over a week (not a single piece of my garden is level). No the guy doing the fence won't be earning that (unless he owns the company), but he does have the cost of van tools, wet days etc, so will be charging that. As I said I would resent paying that for effectively low skilled labour at best.

Depends where you are
Up here on the Nevill digging one two foot hole is no fun due to hitting chalk fairly quickly
I’d happily pay someone to dig 20

And you're a complete tool, which part of me saying it's more than the 1-2 days work you're saying it takes makes me ME a "worst nightmare"? I actually have a builder, electrician, chippy and plumber working on my house at the moment, all based in Local area and none of which have issues with me doing part of the job or selected jobs. Far from being a worst nightmare I imagine I am a dream customer, I fit around their schedule and pay time and materials (which is how I know some want £30+ an hour, I'll pay that to a tradesman but no a fencing contractor - get real). I get that you take offence to people giving advice, but if the OP didn't want it they wouldn't have asked.

The guys at AVS may be helpful. But when i called to enquire about the price of some posts, they wanted my name and address and other details before they would sell me anything. Despite informing them I would pay cash, and collect the materials. (they were willing to quote prices without my details).
Now I think there is too much unnecessary collecting of personal details these days. I refused, and bought the stuff anonomously from Wickes instead.

Thanjs Blatant Liar and DIY Fence Erector and Blatant know it all.
Actually it's just fence panels I want to be put up, to replace my current garden fence, I just want a taller fence. Have found out I can go as high as 2metres with fence panels. Current ones are a bit less than 1.5m and i want to block out my neighbours. Posts already in place with current fence, so that should be OK.
I'd love to be able to do it myself, but I need to employ someone as I really wouldn't know how to do it (I'm a busy mum of young children, working part time, and have many skills but fencing is not one of them!).
I asked for ideas on cost, because although I intend to get 2 or 3 quotes, I won't have any idea whether they are reasonable or not because I won't have anything to compare them to.
Why has someone called me a knob for asking advice on this?!

The electrician lives just outside, not sure why you think it's relevant to a conversation about fencing though.
Yeah paying the full hourly rate, not expecting them to quote, giving them a list of jobs and letting them fit them in around other contracts. Yeah you're right @Blatant I am the customer from hell.
Anyway back to the point, you probably can't just fit larger panels teak, larger panels needs deeper posts, for 6' panels you need 8 foot posts. If you already have 6' posts it should be an easy job to swap, post and rail (horizontal post with the vertical panels nailed on) will require a fencing contractor, if you have slot in panels you can just pull the old ones up and slot new ones in. Personally I go with the concrete posts and gravel boards and slot in panels, it won't help you this time, but future changes of panels are very easy then. Final tip is you can only go to 2 metres as you said, but if you get longer posts you will get away with another foot of trellis on top of the panel without breaking planning. Bet all my "advice" makes your blood boil @Blatant, I love it! Tell me who you normally posts as and I'll make a point of giving you my advice everytime you post

Why are you thanking Blatant Liar?
You asked for quotes. Instead, he's given you an essay on how to erect fences that are completely different to the type of fences you're asking about, and to top it off, hasn't actually answered your question.
Typical of Blatant Liar.
