I like ringmer bakery but like Forfars a lot. So it was good to see Forfars delivering there goods fresh to jack and Jill's bakery in ringmer. Maybe baking on site just doesn't pay anymore, so why not buy in from your competitors. If you can't beat them join them.

I have noticed the one in Lewes has gone downhill in the last 6 months.

Are you sure it's gone downhill Mrs b. I looked for ages yesterday but there's nothing downhill that looks remotely like a bakery.

I hope Jack and Jills' do not start charging Forfars prices for their excellent pies and hot snacks.

I don't use either of them - Forfars stinks, and J&J's are ridiculously expensive!

This thread a one person wind-up. The Jack and Jill bakery in Ringmer is one of the best in Sussex. Forfars doesn't come close. Their outlets even smell more like mouldy socks than real bakeries. Anyone who had not tried a bacon and cheese slice or a pie from the Ringmer bakery should do so now. :-)

They are the same bacon and cheese slices that they sell in Forfars. If you want proof check the Forfars delivery van that arrives between 6.30 am and 7 am.
At least at Forfars you don't get your head bitten off if you ask for butter in your roll.

I don't think J&J's make much of the stuff they sell, except most the bread. And that's stupidly expensive compared to the bakers that I buy my bread from.

I love j&j's. Given that the bread is made on premises, and is really nice, I think they charge reasonable prices. They order a few bits in from elsewhere, and also sell a lot of their stuff to other bakeries, pubs etc. Bacon and cheese slices are made by them, not bought in. Their rolls and sarnies are enormous. I guess it's up to you where you choose to shop but good to get your facts straight before having a pop at a small local business. And no, I'm not the baker, I just like their shop and goods.

Jack & Jills' rule, hands down! I wish they were in Lewes. Bread is nicer, pies have filling in them, and their Doughnuts rule (best I have found in Sussex).
I think Willi is just being a little dick.

This tgread is deeply suspicious. Who is it who is trying to smear the Ringmer Jack and Jill bakery, and why?

The bacon and cheese slices and all the pies are made on site. I've even timed my visits for when they get them out of the oven!

And... Jack and Jill smells like a proper bakery (unlike Forfars where the smell makes you want to vomit).

There's another great independent bakery at Newick. They too do wondrous pies and at silly, low prices.
