As some may be aware, homes at a high risk of flooding were only given insurance under an agreement due to end at the end of June, which would have left those in high flood risk areas unable to obtain cover / mortgage funding etc.
The Government and the insurance industry have now reached a compromise deal so that cover will continue to be provided for most homes and premiums will be capped.

Our house flooded in "The flood" but our home insurance this year was actually pretty reasonable from Nationwide. The cap, as I understand it is that the additional sum lumped on top of your normal home insurance for flood insurance can't be more than £500 and your excess get's capped too so it's not going to mean significantly cheaper home insurance for anyone I wouldn't have thought but at least South Street residents will be able to get home insurance now.
