Today , we know Lord Dickie Attenborough best for bursting into tears, or Gandhi , or calling everybody luvvie. Anybody watching Film 4 today at 2.25, will see him in a different light, as a gangster in Brighton Rock. The film was made 64 years a go, but still manages to convey an air of intrigue and menace. I wont give away the plot, for anybody who hasnt seen it, but never go on a fairground ride with Richard Attenborough!

Great film. Got it on disc. Some great shots of post war Brighton, Palace Pier and the racecourse.

Just finished watching - a different ending to the book, though it is indeed a classic film. Brighton looked even seedier than it does today but the shots of the old pier bring back some memories of the Palace pier theatre and victoriana.

Trivia: All the ironwork on the Palace Pier, and all along the seafront, was all cast at Every's in Lewes.
