I drove past the Nevill earlier and couldn't believe the smell.
How is this acceptable?
What are the council doing about it?

A Webbo poll perhaps? a resultant petition

My friend used to work for the company that discharges the sewage onto the fields around Lewes. They are supposed to treat it, but spray it untreated illegally and then make a huge profit of course that is why is smells so bad. The risk of airborne disease is enormous and that is why we must all make our concerns known to the council.

Is it not worth phoning the environmental health dept up ? 7.30 last night, it was 25 degrees and we're having to sit indoors with our windows and doors shut as it's making us feel so sick.
We've had this smell for a week now on and off and it's getting beyond a joke.

Nice bit of rain today should get rid of it all.

Dave - you thought last night was bad? That was almost pleasant compared to levels of nauseating odour we had to contend with over a week ago now... I would hope the local newspaper would take up this challenge and investigate. As I said before, an ASBO should be served...

I share the feelings of the poster ,I bet the selfish anti social pig who inflicted this on his neighbours went on holiday while he was ruining the Summer for everyone. What a total scum bag you might as well fly tip your filth physically all over everyone`s houses

I have just received a message from the Environmental dept and they say it is sludge from the paper industry. I for one don't believe that as I know a former employee of a certain contractor and he told me it was untreated human sewage and that they knew it was illegal and therefore far more lucrative, hence the ghastly smell. What can you do.

Lloyds Environmental Services give (or sell) cess pit contents to farmers for "soil improvement", or so I'm told.

Why don't you lot ring up the farmer for gawds sake? He can't be that hard to track down. As for bad smells in Landport, i'm surprised you'd notice a new one.
