I hate to say I told you so but as I have been warning in one guise or another the left are plotting another attempt to break up in England and deny it a voice. Like a dog retuning to its vomit “Creature“ Clegg , has discovered his wild enthusiasm for Labour`s plan B which is to chop England into Euro regions and allow them some ornamental powers …
Speaking in Sheffield, Mr Clegg endorsed a report by the IPPR North think tank proposing a new wave of combined local authorities headed by directly elected "metro mayors. He said councils were already able to retain more of their own income from business rates, but they should gradually take control of budgets for skills and job development”.
There is only one reason for this and it is create an excuse to deny England a Parliament following Devo Max or the virtually identical Scottish independence. The ‘progressive’ left ( who despised the Union anyway) are desperate to retain nti English sentiment from Scotland, at Westminster, despite this making little more sense than importing random French or Irish MPs .
That of course is absurd .Scotland will have fiscal autonomy and there is zero chance of anything of the sort for Birmingham even if it made any sense which is certainly does not. Can you imagine crossing the border at Watford into Midlands-land where income tax was greater and you were no longer in the EU?
John Redwood has begun the Speak for England campaign
“ If you want England to have its own voice and home rule please write to your own MP asking them to speak for England. You could also copy in BBC News”
Mr Redwood is a maverick Tory but as UKIP have shown National pride is not confined to the right and England is far from the cruel place many of the progressive left imagine . Ask anyone interested in gay rights or women’s rights if they like the record of Ireland or Scotland . We don`t have to agree on what a new England would look like to agree we are a Nation with a right to decide our own future .So I shall bd writing to Norman Baker tro ask this Scot if he intends to cooperate in his parties attack on our country and frustrate the legitimate democratic wishes of the English.
Please do the same

I agree that it is about time we had an English parliament. If we got rid of the appointed House of Lords, there would be plenty of room for it in Westminster.
We will also be able to manage with quite a lot fewer MPs if Scotland decides to leave us. If the English, Welsh & Northern Irish parliaments deal with all the detailed/important stuff (raising taxes, NHS, education, transport, justice), the overall Parliament would only have to cover issues such as foreign policy & defence. Maybe 1 MP from Northern Ireland, 2 for Wales and about 40 for England? Should help cut the cost.

You're so funny Bully Beef, denouncing 'the left' and including Clegg (who is - if you haven't noticed - in coalition with the Tory party) and Labour (which hasn't abandoned the neo-liberalism of the Blair and Brown era). I assume you're a Ukip supporter who thinks Cameron is on 'the left' too.
