Eastern Promise

I received a knock on my door by a really odd little lady said she was from a company called TNS. She seemed to be Rumanian or Russian at least Eastern European so I had trouble understanding what she was saying.
She was quite sure of herself and it was as if she wanted to push her way into my home she seemed keen to get in. At this point I said I was extremely busy at the moment and maybe could she come back in an hour or two.
Has anybody else had the experience of this most odd woman?

You need to call the police Noddy - she sounds like she's trying to trick her way into people's homes. Some elderly people will be sitting ducks for her. Please call the police contact centre on 101.

She's the oddest person believe me.. I haven't called the police (yet) because she may of been all above board.
I noticed her car is parked really badly its half way up the embankment and is now stuck on the sewer stack..

I'm near to the Elephant & Castle pub Horseman7. Well she hasn't been back....yet. and I don't expect she will. He car has gone too.
Rosa Klebb and her flick knife shoe kept running through my mind all the time she was talking. (Rosa Klebb plays the character in the James Bond movie From Russia With Love).
Well, it was an extremely bizarre experience..

TNS are one of the world's biggest consumer research companies, so it's an obvious choice for a fraudster to latch onto.

"Noddy" You MUST tell the police, there are too many of these scam artists about. I had two purporting to collect for a Armed Forces charity, when challenged about their service record, they legged it.We have also had people calling to clean windows and clear gutters, again when questioned about their working methods they legged it. TELL THE POLICE PLEASE.

On the TNS website I found this..
The woman has called round twice since and both times I haven't answered the door. The last time she knocked on my door it was 8.00pm I'll call the police you just don't know she might have friends waiting for the opportunity to gain entry..

Check it out here »

Yes, I've had her too. Twice. She puts her foot on the doorstep the moment you open the door and looks as if she's going to walk right in. I thought she was Spanish. She could easily be genuine, but her technique leaves a lot to be desired. As for the window cleaners, apparently they do clean the windows, but use it as an opportunity to suss out what's worth nicking.

Thats what bugged me about her she was trying to get past me into my own home and she was really pushy about it. It was only then when I blocked her access and said I had to be else where that she begrudgingly moved out the way, but she still said she would come back. After thinking about the experience and the comments on here I got a little worried for my elderly neighbour.
I should of called the police about her earlier really, when I had those feelings of something is not quite right. I gave the Bobby a description, she's quite distinctive the spitting image of Rosa Klebb.
She ought to be stopped. I can't stand those sorts of people who rip off the poor and vulnerable.. I can barely survive as it is.. its really low.. parasitic behaviour.

I've found a contact email for TNS and have dropped them a line with a link to the thread. If this person really is one of their representatives then they clearly need to review their training; if not, then they should definitely let the police know.

Well well. It turns out that this person was indeed a TNS market researcher. Here's the response from them:

"Thank you for bringing to my attention your concerns about the authenticity and doorstep manner of a TNS interviewer working in your area. I can confirm that this interviewer is genuine and was conducting research on behalf of TNS in Lewes on 16th June. The interviewer’s name is G*** M*** and she has been working for TNS for over 6 years. I would like to thank you for the feedback on her doorstep technique and general manner. I will ensure any appropriate re-training is taken in line with our internal company policies and standards."

I think that's very valuable. It's obvious from the various replies that her doorstep technique needs to be addressed, but it's also reassuring that she isn't a front person for an Eastern European gang sussing out the area!

I can hardly believe it the Rosa Klebb character came back again this afternoon!
I hesitantly opened the door and politely said I wasn't interested in anything she was trying to promote. When I asked her for her id she said oh yes I should show you and rooted around her handbag and showed me some kind of id for TNS.
The TNS website says that they have been forged by the scammers lots before. She went to knock on my neighbours door after having no luck with me. My neighbour (who had just got in) said that she had no time at the moment and sent her on her way.
I tried ringing the 101 number but after 20 minutes of being on hold I gave up trying. The woman would be long gone by the time the police have gotten round to do something.
The policeman last night said he would inform my local beat Bobby and I could expect a call from him/her but they have never materialised.
I'm not that physically able or I might of tried to do a citizens arrest. Lucky I didn't in the circumstances..

Rosa Klebb was her name she was nimble for her years..
She drank White Russians like it was all the rage.. no one had told her its old hat ..she didn’t mind though she was funny like that.
Rosa could throw a kick as soon as look at you she was quite cool in an unlikely way.
She would give an inaudible growl before she struck.. she meant dirty business thats for sure.
I’d of grappled with Rosa.. who nows who would of come out on top..
I know now that it would useless trying to apprehend her as no one wants to know.
Just you beware now for Rosa’s on the Prowl.
