Rang highways to say that Landport should be gritted as a 4.30pm today the roads had started to freeze. Was told in no uncertain terms that it was their belief that it would not freeze tonight and that we are not on a gritting route and would not see a gritter.
Em, have just looked at met office forecast for this area and guess what the temp for tonight is below freezing.
Great ice skates needed to get out again me thinks.

There used to be grit boxes in Broommans Lane and other Twittens but they have been removed in recent years and not replaced. Considering these are main pedestrian links from the High Street, it is incredible that pedestrian safety is compromised by ESCC. It's hardly any wonder that pedestrians recently felt the need to negotiate the road in Station Street.
IMO, a nincompoop award should be publically endowed upon ESCC.

This may sound a bit daft, but i've just measured the thickness of the ice along Landport road and Eridge Gree. It's almost an inch thick!!!
I guess the numpties at the council sit in their nice warm office, and look out the window and think "looks all right to me out there!" Maybe they should get off their fat back sides and come and have a look to see just how bad the roads and paths are down here.
