Undoubtedly Diana suffered from a personality disorder - she was (in my opinion) devious, selfish, manipulative and attention seeking - do you agree that this is the legacythat she left to her generation?

Oh she was. You only have to look at the doe eyed way she looked at him when they first got hitched. He, by contrast, was clearly never particularly interested in her. But we know that anyway.
SOTP, I think you're mixing up cause and effect - our cynical, selfish society made her that way, rather than the other way around. I feel rather sorry for her, all in all.
