I went down there to see Red Turtle today and it was sold out as were the other 2 screens.
Well that's just flipping dandy. I bet most of them were from outside Lewes too.
It's a local cinema for local people!

I'm delighted to see that our lovely new cinema is being so well patronised.

Lewes is the County Town. It has a wide catchment area.

I watched a film there last week and it's a great cinema, but they need to stop late arrivals coming in and people walking around during the films. The constant coming and going throughout the film was unlike anything I've seen in a cinema before and spoiled it for me.

Surely it's worth checking if there are seats before going to the cinema? Never just turned up at Uckfield without checking on line or by phone if seats available. Uckfield is often sold out for popular films .....

People were giving this place a few months. Now they're complaining it's too busy.

@P Doff The online booking system is so easy to use via the Depot website. Check before you go. As for being "a local cinema for local people" Its for anyone willing to pay the admission price.
By the way i saw The Red Turtle last Sunday. its very good

I do wonder if people like P Doff are real (in their beliefs and frustrations). What a ridiculous first world problem to vent about, and what a foolish parochial attitude - IF, they are being remotely serious that is.
I agree with the others on here, its great to see The Depot so busy and long may it continue.
BOOK IN ADVANCE.................................

@Odd - I went to see 'Get Out' last week and the same thing happened. I think it's because people assume that there are going to be adverts first. It was a bit annoying but I was also relieved for The Depot's sake, as there were only six people in the cinema to begin with. I'm really glad to read that a screening was sold out.

It's flipping sold out again tonight!!
They should have built larger screens and used that space with the silver gantry as another one.

The reason people turn up late and get in the way is because they expect there to be 15 minutes of adverts before the films start and there aren't so the film starts 15 minutes before they expect it to..... there is also the time it takes you to order a drink from the bar of course..... zzzzzz...

1. What is that silver girder thing?
2. A simple message on the website - "we don't show trailers - turn up 15 minutes before the time advertised" - would help. And "no admittance after advertised time".
3. Have they fixed the website yet? It's very twitchy and put me off going quite a few times now.
4. Apart from that, it is a great place and a fantastic asset to the town.

@Cinema Goer - well said.
We went last night, the third time I have been and it's a great place.
Saying that, they really need to sort out the bar, seems incredibly chaotic. So many people behind the bar, some taking orders, different people getting drinks; - when did that work anywhere else? No wonder there are always queues of confused people.

Surely if screenings are selling out that means the business is doing well so far... That's a good thing, right?
Not sure why you would assume that it was full because of non-locals either.
