Crows attacking windows

A friend is troubled every year by crows violently attacking the windows of his house. He has tried sticking on strips of aluminium foil, and many other ideas, but nothing seems to work. Not only does the loud - and I mean loud - tapping on the windows wake the family up at unsociable hours, but the windows end up smeared and the windowsills become an avian portaloo!! Can anyone come up with a humane and eco-friendly solution for keeping the crows at bay?

Percy's fishing shop sells a fairly powerful .22 air rifle for £120. I'd get one of those.

It needs some feedback, like a spinny or something, or at least the button to look like its done something when you've pressed it.
Also, it's be more convenient of there were a back/forum button at the bottom of the thread screen to stop you having to scroll all the way up to get back to the forum home page.

To discourage birds attacking your windows (they're actually attacking their reflection) try putting a large picture of a bird of prey in the window. If that fails "Prikka-Strip" deterrent strips can be bought cheaply on the net which stop birds from landing on the sills.

If your friend would like to speak to The Argus about the issue we can try and get to the bottom of why crows would attack his house and some possible solutions.
