A couple of years ago, I had occasion to visit Rye just after Christmas. They had traditional multi-coloured Christmas lights strung across the high street and it looked fab. It's a tiny little town, but they'd made a big effort, I don't see why Lewes can't.

You get an excellent view of it from Tescos car park, and it's worth going to see imo.
