Our favourite Tory, Donna Edmunds has won an award from Private Eye for her "die of cancer" Tweet earlier this year (please see page 11 of the Christmas issue) - what a star!

I'm surprised Paul Newman didn't get on here first to congratulate her for keeping up the high standards we always expect from our Tory betters.

Always nice to see someone local win a national award. In this case clearly well-earned. Well done, Donna.

Are you sure? I've got 22 December issue - can't see it on page 11 or page 13 "Rotten Boroughs".

Donna Edmunds is not rich padster, which makes her even more if a fool. It's not as if she's even working for her own self interest. She's a little squirt pumped up by her own feeling of self-importance.

The Tory voting twerps in Barcombe voted Donna Edmunds as their Lewes District Council councillor. The Greens split the Lib Dem vote and this allowed her to sneak in.

Barcombe's first Tory councillor and she's a right dud. She's only visited her constituency a couple of times since she got in and not done one thing to help the village. She spends her time in London dreaming up crack-pot right wind ideas for a tiny and little known Tory think tank (that might well consist of just her).

Hopefully The good people of Barcome have leant a lesson and will not vote her in again.

@BB 'The Greens split the Lib Dem vote'. as opposed to, the people who voted Green didn't want to vote for either the LibDems or the Tory's. When will the LibDems start to realise they have only got themselves to blame for losing control of the District Council, as opposed to blaming and patronising the electorate. And that includes Norman Baker for personally attacking the Green Candidate for standing in this ward back in May.

Matt Kent - just half of the Green vote in Barcombe supporting the Lib Dems would have seen one less odious Tory councillor. You can moan about Norman all you want (and I note you recently saw fit to attack him, apparently it is OK if it is you doing the attacking it seems); but the truth is that votes for the third placed Green did allow the Tories to win.

But then the Greens and the Tories both want to take us back to the Stone Age, so they are natural allies.

The overly grand sounding Progressive Vision 'think tank' is indeed just another vehicle for young Lewes Councillor Donna Edmunds to propogate her juvenile right wing views under the misleading banner of progressive liberalism. Add this to her Twitter profligacy and three Facebook accounts and she starts to look very much like the empty vessel making the most noise. It would be interesting to know who finances her Progressive Vision missives and small London office but as is usual with (one-person!) right wing stooge organisations such as Progressive Vision the main donors are not acknowledged.

Donna's Progressive Vision website says this about the NHS: 'A common myth is that the NHS is the â??envy of the worldâ? and that the NHS is â??one of Britainâ??s greatest accomplishmentsâ?. Nothing could be further from the truth. Apart from a number of socialist ideologues, the NHS is envied by few outside Britain and if having one of the poorest performing health systems in the developed world is a great British achievement, Britain would be in a poor state.'

The Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, quotes a report that says 'people in Britain have among the fastest access to GPs, the best co-ordinated care, and suffer from the among the fewest medical errors, of 11 high income countries surveyed.
The countries examined were: the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Britain and Switzerland were consistently among the best performers, found the analysis of answers from over 18,000 adults with chronic and serious illness.'

Interesting, eh?

Clifford you seem to say the NHS is bad and then good.
I can only give personal evidence but have worked in the nhs for 10 years and worked in other health systems in others countries and regularly travel in my role to other medical systems. We are far superior in so many ways and i can assure you people do envy what we have. yes there is room for improvement but for a nation as large as our we provide fantastic healthcare to all regardless of wealth, i am very proud of that. Edmunds knows nothing.
