I bought a book on how to do your own conveyancing and did it myself. It's very simple and only takes a few hours. All you need is the nerve, thoroughness and patience. If not ring around and take the lowest quote,it's money for jam to them.£500 an hour minimum when I did it,nice work if you can get it.

It is simple if your property is simple. If it's not and you miss something you can store up a lot of trouble for the future.

Clive Smith could be hot & horny for a percentage of the population too, however, I do know after using his services on two occasions in recent history that he is 100% reliable, reasonable & professional which counts a lot more in my book than a bit of eye candy.
(SE is well h & h though, tee hee),

I'm a lawyer, not connected to any of the above, and have dealt with all of them. There's an element of taste involved but of those above I'd strongly recommend Clive Smith.
It's almost (not quite) impossible to act for yourself now with money laundering regulations. Also, take my word for it that it is extermely boring, and you almost certainly have something better to do with your time than read textbooks about conveyancing.

Have you met Clive Smith? I don't think hot not horny are words that could ever be ascribed to him. Friendly, approachable, competent maybe, but certainly not hot and horny!

I phoned Sarah Edmunds a couple of years ago as I had a lot of legal work to place and her ads guaranteed a callback within 4 hours. 7 hours after leaving a voicemail I called again, and she was quite shirty - 'Well, we were busy: we had several completions today'. Er, so don't pin your advertising on something that you can't deliver.....

Beverley Ogden was brilliant when we used her for sale and purchase of properties in Lewes - very efficient and went through in 10 weeks. Fixed price for selling and purchasing - thanks Beverley for making it so quick and smooth.

Treat solicitors as you would double-glazing salesmen - get lots of quotes, check their reviews and then go for the cheapest with good reviews. They are all insured, and the cheapest will probably do just as good a job as the others. All the work is actually done by under-paid minions anyway. Last time I used a solicitor from Southport who had great reviews online and charged about half the best Lewes quote. Once I had explained where Malling was, and that I didn't need the chancel insurance because South Malling church doesn't have one, she was fine.

There different type of quotes which you can choose. From property sale, property purchase, sale & purchase, remortgage, and transfer of equity, you will be directed to a page where you have to answer the property value, applicants and other questions.

Whether Sarah Kelly (nee Edmunds) is hot and horny or not might be an entertaining matter for conjecture. All I can say is that her firm dealt with a house purchase for us recently, and were extremely thorough and good, and I'd recommend them to anyone. It was my fourth property purchase so far, and I'd rate her equal first, with the other two solicitors I've used trailing woefully behind.
