Hello. I live in central Lewes and for the last year I have been working as a live in carer, a job that I adore. I finished my last assignment in December and I am now free to take on more assignments. I am happy to discuss working patterns and I have been working in partnership with my friend who is an ex nurse specialising in geriatric/psychiatric nursing. I am big believer in people remaining in their own homes with those who care around them. My Grandfather had Huntingtons disease and remained in his own home with my Grandmother right until the end of his life. This would not have been possible without the assistance of some wonderful carers who would come in now and again to give the family a break, even if it was just for an afternoon. On the whole we managed it as a family without the need for a nursing home. I eventually branched off into the care profession myself last year and I find it incredibly rewarding to enable a person to remain in their home for as long as is feasibly possible. I am happy to provide live in care, respite care as well as daily and hourly care and I am hoping to branch off into palliative care. I am a compassionate, caring, witty individual who works hard to provide a comfortable environment for those who I care for. Please get in touch if you are looking for any of the above for your beloved family member. My telephone number is 07746560673.

If you are genuine - and I truly hope you are - this forum is an extraordinary choice as a place to solicit for work.

Hello Lewes Lady yes I am genuine. Forgive me for seeming ignorant but is this site not full of advertisements for various services? As I am typing my reply right now I can see a banner in the left hand corner from a company who is apparently "soliciting" themselves regarding Professional Web Production. Am I being silly in thinking that the Lewes.co.uk has a section for job advertisement or are my eyes deceiving me? Sorry if I have offended you but I assumed that this would be the place to "solicit" as I would love to keep my services local. Not to throw anything back at you but I have been warned that there are "trolls" who like to go across this site and throw proverbial spanners into the works for genuine people who are simply trying to raise awareness of their existence. I decided to post in response to someone who was asking opinions on care homes in the Lewes Area. So once again, apologies if I have offended your delicate sensibilities and before you ask why I am posting so late at night it is simply because my next door neighbours are having a party and are being quite noisy so we have agreed to let them get on with it until a reasonable time, being the patient person that I am. I have read some of the posts in the forum here of late and I have to admit that I find some of it pathetic, derogatory and petty minded, and I never thought in a million years that I would be put into the same class as some individals. Yes I am genuine, yes I live in Lewes, and yes I am a carer. I hope that clears matters up and you have a god night's sleep. Take care.

I just realised I misspelled the word "good" as "god", was merely a typo. Just clearing that one up before someone decides to pick me up on it. Goodnight all.

Hi Louise,
You may well get some genuine enquiries on here.
The following assumes that you are self-employed:
Have you tried any face to fact networking yet? In the world of 'small business', i.e. sole traders, partnerships etc, people really do buy people. If they've met you and they don't need your services themselves, they will remember you if they were impressed with both you, as a person, and what you had to offer, as a professional. They will then recommend you to others. It could well be their co-worker's husband's neighbour's aunty's milkman that contacts you with an offer of work.
First Friday (Lewes) and Third Friday (Brighton) are free networking organisations. If you want to pay, consider joining a chamber of commerce. There are plenty to choose from - Lewes, Brighton (the one I belong to and get my work from), Newhaven and Eastbourne spring to mind immediately but there are others. You will be able to get moral support, training opportunities and social interaction as well as networking from such an organisation.
I take it you have all the necessary CRB (now called something else) type checks in place?
Good luck with your quest. And I hope it was a good party.
