Hello, I'm fairly new to Lewes, I want to find a good coffee place where I can set up and work for a few hours. So, decent coffee, WiFi and a tolerant attitude to freelancers is the kind of thing. Where's the best place?

Is this how you get your freelance work, Newgirl? Asking other people to do your research for you?

There's a great one at the end of the rainbow, you just need to get to Blackcap to find it.

How will people know you are "freelance" or actually care?

The Depot near the station car park.
Cafe Nero.
The Trading Post in Cliffe, maybe.
Ignore the begrudgers.... too much time spent in Lewes air pollution, can’t help themselves.

They’ll all welcome you. Making that latte last two hours while people are waiting for a table.
It amazes why your sort don’t stay at home, oh sorry then nobody will see how important you are with your expensive Apple Macintosh gizmo

Who waits for a table in a Lewes coffee shop?? Surely one simply walks to the coffee shop next door!

Stan's right on the money. Why not either stay at home, or at the very least pay for 4G so that she can sit in a bus shelter and annoy a few less people?

Can't stand hearing people type on their laptops when I'm trying to have a relaxing coffee.

It’s so annoying people in Cafe Nero on their laptops for hours taking up space . So selfish.

Hey guys thanks so much for your welcoming and friendly words. I don't have a Mac btw, I have a SurfacePro, I think they're actually more expensive. I can't work out quite why my question attracted so much vitriol but I look forward to sitting in all the coffee places you lovely people like and ruining your day. See you there.

The BackyYard Cafe at the Needlemakers will let you stay for as long as you like with one drink and use Wifi although the Coffee is harsh and the food takes ages to be served. I once ordered a Quiche and it still hasn't arrived, oh and they often give you the wrong change. It does have free Wifi though and it's quiet enough to work, they will turn off the music for you if you ask nicely.

I do work at home except when the kids are in (after all, school holidays). You try getting anything done with three under 8s in the house.
I've never seen a completely full cafe in Lewes. Except maybe Saturday but no one is working then.

Newgirl, none of the critical posters here ever go near a coffee shop. They’re part of the small minded, trolling clique on this site that have nothing better to do in their lives other than whinge and moan about everything. Sad really.
