I was very excited to see another new free local paper arrive, the South downs and coastal chronicle. Very exciting headlines about the health service improvements locally, local skills training, more police and the government's plans for the country and local area. I was interested to read that the NHS was badly hit by the pandemic rather than lack of government spending. No mention that the extra police was to replace police who have previously been cut by the government and shouldn't the government have been working the whole time to improve skills training? The three pictures of Maria Caulfield and one of sunak in the 4 page paper started me getting very suspicious and in very faint and small writing at the bottom of page one there is the line that it is promoted on behalf of Maria Caulfield.
This is blatant electioneering posing as news. It is downright misleading and they should not be allowed to produce rags like this. If they want to send out campaign material for the conservative party it should have to say it.

GB News basically has sitting tory MPs as their news contributors and anchors!

We should not be at all surprised that Maria Caulfield is using tory donors money wisely on more government propaganda. Not that it will do them any good. Surely the lewes seat is going straight back to the Liberal Democrats this time. Caulfield will be hopefully returning to nursing. She tried....

I'm sure she personally is well intentioned but the fact remains that she is a member of what will surely be considered to be the most disastrously bad government in recent history. She has supported the untold long term damage caused by Brexit and the fracturing of society with the rich becoming much richer to the extent that they have been allowed to buy up a lot of the housing stock and so prevent young and poorer people from ever owning a house to live in. She has helped ensure that the majority of people who cannot afford it have less access to health care. Young people cannot go to Europe to work or even for extended holidays. I could go on.
Unfortunately I lack your confidence in the electorate green. I think she still has every chance of being our MP after the next election. This is still essentially a Tory area. Norman got in due to the reform party causing a split in the Tory vote. He got re-elected as people saw how much better he was as a local MP than rathbone. Caulfield has maintained a strong local presence.
Does anyone want to defend Brexit or the record of the Tories.
