Just to expand on this this because most people aren't aware of the history of Chiropractic. It was invented by a guy called Daniel Palmer who was a "magnetic healer" who thought ALL disease was caused by misaligned vertebrae. His first patient was "cured" of deafness through spine manipulation.

I recommend reading Sinon Singh & Edzard Ernst's book about alternative medicine "Trick or Treatment." it has a chapter on Chiropractic.

When Simon Singh wrote a follow up article in the Guardian in which he said:

"The British Chiropractic Association claims that their members can help treat children with colic, sleeping and feeding problems, frequent ear infections, asthma and prolonged crying, even though there is not a jot of evidence. This organisation is the respectable face of the chiropractic profession and yet it happily promotes bogus treatments."
... he was sued for libel by the British Chiropractic Association (BCA). After nearly two years of legal wranglings and at great financial cost to both sides the BCA were forced to back down.
Chiropractic is dangerous, manipulating the spine near the cranium can lead to strokes. There are many documents cases. In an article in New Scientist Edzard Ernst said (quoting from his own book):
"After weighing all the evidence, our conclusions were not flattering: "Warning: this treatment carries the risk of stroke and death if spinal manipulation is applied to the neck. Elsewhere on the spine, therapy is relatively safe. It has shown some evidence of benefit in the treatment of back pain, but conventional treatments are usually equally effective and much cheaper. In the treatment of all other conditions chiropractic therapy is ineffective except that it might act as a placebo.""

That video link above is the first part which is more about the Singh vs BCA case, this 2nd part is more about the evidence base for Chiropractic.

You may wish to try a Physiotherapist, or a crossover Osteopath. Lewes has plenty, alongside all the candle-burners and back-crackers. Best of luck.

I tried a Chiropracter in St Andrew's Lane for back problems after physiotherapy at the hospital didn't work, I had about 10 x 15 minute sessions at £30 a pop plus an Xray done, which gave temporary relief for a day or two, from a very attractive lady in a low cut blouse. After advice from several people I went to Derek Retieff on school hill. Three sessions cost abot £120 in total, problem sorted, totally. had a slight relapse about a year later, one more session, problem fixed. that was 5 years ago. oh, also bought a new bed, that made a big differenc

Not been to a Chiropractor but went to a Osteopath years ago and it left me in a bad mental state " I had a breakdown and am now bi polar " My back was to far gone for alternative treatment and ended up in Hurstwood Park having an operation. Took two years to recover and still stiff now but at least now not in pain as such, but the mental scars within me are still there. I'm one of the lucky ones as I have seen a friend paralysed by the same operation.
