Do you know anything about chem trials?
I find this worrying, whenever it is set to be a beautiful day, this happens in the sky.......

Contrails are produced by aircraft engine exhaust, as the aircraft cruises several miles above the Earth's surface. Contrails are composed primarily of water, in the form of ice crystals.

Shhh, didn't you know, us pilots are sworn to secrecy as to what the trails really are...its a mind-control drug, which we spray on behalf of the (secret) World Government, to keep the great unwashed masses subdued... honest!
Or, as "they" would have you believe, its simply the condensation that forms when the very hot, very damp, exhaust plumes from jet engines hit the very cold atmosphere above 30,000 feet or so (actual lowest height at which they form varies with air temperature/air pressure, and ambient moisture levels etc). The cold air causes the moisture in the exhaust to condense, and even freeze, into tiny droplets or ice particles of water. It's the same effect a you see when you exhale on a cold fresh winter morning, and your breath forms a cloud of mist....
But of course, the stuff on the inter web is always right, it's al a secret conspiracy to spray mind-control chemicals across step globe. There are even photos showing aircraft full of barrels of liquid, "waiting to be sprayed" ...though those photos actually show the method airliner manufacturers use to load aircraft with a weight equivalent to a full passenger load on test flights.
Still, Anna Vinton, if any doubt I suggest you fold yourself a neat tinfoil hat and hid under your stairs, just in case...

Sorry if my responses was a little harsh for your tastes Blatant Liar, but far too many people simply believe everything they read on t'internet... far too many conspiracy theories gain credence though too many people not having the ability to stand book and think for themselves.
The age of global information technology has simply allowed the "nutters" to peddle their pet conspiracy theory tripe even more widely...
.. oh no, there's a black car pulling up outside my front door, and two men dressed in black are getting out of it... I fear this may be my last ever post.....

Rogue Pilot - your movements are being monitored. We know that you are currently sitting in your boxer shorts and eight minutes ago, searched on Google for "olive on the buses nude". Don't try pretending you're out when our agent rings your doorbell. The other agent will be waiting by your back door.

Apparently Flat Earth theory is a big thing at the moment. I'm not joking!
Government does try to control us though. If you watch TV then you are willingly giving your attention to those who are manipulating your thoughts for whatever reason.
Best to read nothing written after 1793 to be on the safe side with a few notable exceptions.

You're absolutely correct jet, condensation trails are made of ice which quickly melts in the atmosphere. You can see them disappearing in the sky behind aeroplanes. What Anna is asking about is the ones that hang around for ages, gradually spreading out into a milky haze. Water does not do that if you don't know, ask any scientist. All you have to do is look at the sky to see there are two different types of trails and no reptiles up there!

Sorry to disillusion you Tom Pain, but the length of time the trails hang around for is simply down to the atmospheric conditions (humidity and wind speed) on the day, less wind speed means they hang around for longer... simples. And don't forget, wind speed and humidity at different con-trial altitudes often bear little relation to what is being experienced by people at ground level, or even a few thousand feet above or below the altitude in question.
The density of the con-trail (i.e. how many water droplets or ice crystals per cubic metre) may also affect how quickly they disperse, and different jet engines will produce more-, or less-, dispersed trails due to the way they handle their exhaust, some engine nacelle (pod) designs disperse it more than others.
For example, some modern jet engines "wrap" the warm, damp, (and noisy) exhaust that has been burnt in the core of the engine in a shroud of cooler, quieter air that has not passed through the hot core of the jet itself, but that has only passed through the larger fan (the big blades you see in the front of most jet airliners' engines these days). By "containing" the hotter/wetter "burnt" plume to keep noise footprint down, the engine design may also mean contrails are more dense, and so disperse at a slower rate...
..Or, of course, I could simply be telling you what THEY told me to say, and the rate of dispersal is all down to those sinister mind-controlling additives...
...Tin-foil hats anyone...?
P.S. If you really are worried about what THEY are adding to those sinister "chem-trails" (rolls eyes), you should perhaps be even more worried about what THEY are add to road-traffic fuels - why spray stuff at 30,000 feet where the weather system might blow half of it away over the unpopulated areas when THEY could be using motor vehlcles to disperse it right in the heart of the population centres.... ;-).

@ Tom Pain - as I said, it varies with the atmospheric conditions on the day, so is not easy to predict or give a definite figure.
Of course, the condensation trails are more visible/obvious on a clear 'blue sky' day, but they are there on overcast days too, but they are simply hidden by the lower clouds between the ground and the con-trail level.
Changes in daily flight patterns, and flight routings/timings will also affect how many appear.
Lewes sees many high-level trails as transatlantic flights between northern US/Canada and Western Europe tend to fly "great circle routes" which are the shortest (and thus most economical/quickest) distance between two points on the planet - so many of those flights tend to track up towards Greenland and Iceland, then swing across the far North Atlantic before running pretty much down the length of UK before they head out to France/Spain etc. This explains why many of the high level, and seemingly often longer-lasting con-trails, run North-south over this area.
No offences meant re tinfoil hats, but far too much rubbish on the 'web is too often accepted, and passed on, as "truth". Doing a little research of one's own can often quickly debunk nonsense such as "Chem trails" conspiracy - though of course, there is no ultimate way of proving or disproving what is on the 'web is rubbish and what is truth. Each individual has to make a choice as to what they choose to believe - but far too many don't even try to make an educated choice.
