I see our MP has ordered the Ringmer Green caravan dwellers to move on. Have they gone this morning? I doubt it.

I am grateful to her for intervening. It's great that she gets involved in local issues and helps the people she represents.
Thank you Maria!

Have they gone then? Or is she as ineffective as usual? Like representing her constituents views on the EU?

She's been pretty effective looking at the issues that matter to us and people we know. She represents our views on the EU perfectly too. I guess we're in a win win situation.
It's not nice being on the other side of the fence but we can't all be winners. (No matter what they teach in schools these days)
Keep calm and carry on snowflake.

You couldn't be more mistaken, Drusilla. Do you know how difficult Brexit is going to make the lives of hard-working people like my husband? His hospitality business depends on staff from eastern Europe, staff prepared to do a good day's work with no complaint and no insistence on joining a union. I thought the Tory party was supposed to be business friendly. Our MP certainly isn't. I know where my vote will be going next time.

I suspect if these unscrupulous "hospitality businesses" paid their employees appropriately they would have no problem attracting local talent.
If you need foreign labour to make your operation a viable concern there is something seriously wrong with your business model.
We pay our staff well and have no problem attracting committed highly skilled staff.
Instead of pointing the finger at regulations or government, look at the 3 pointing back at you.
Don't believe all the doom and gloom about Brexit. Lots of small and medium size businesses are thriving because of it.

I'm sorry Drusilla but there's an awful racist and anti-diversity implication to what you're saying. There really is nothing wrong with employing what you call 'foreign labour'. They work hard and don't have a sense of entitlement. Your contempt for foreign labour is what lays behind the stupid Brexit vote.

There was nothing racist in my post at all.
I wish people wouldn't resort to name calling when the intellectual argument has been lost.
I'll try rephrasing it... when organisations pay properly they will have no trouble recruiting good staff. (Whether they be local or "non-local" - is that more palatable for you)
You said that your husband's hospitality business would struggle without labour from eastern Europe. I challenge you to review the wages you are paying and see if higher offers attract more applicants. I suspect you will find that to be the case.
If you can't pay people more money then I stand by my previous comment... your husband's business model is the issue. Not Brexit.
Brexit is an opportunity not a threat.
Regarding your diversity comment. I'm all for diversity and employing the best person for the job regardless of gender, colour or creed.
We employ the best people for the role and pay them accordingly.
Have a good day.

So yes, I'd like to know what benefits Drusilla has seen? And how these might be attributable to the chaos we call Brexit.

@ Remainer. Your husband has been following the traditional way of the hospitality industry by paying poor wages whilst charging your punters as much as you can. Resulting in a large profit margin for little effort.
I pay my staff a realistic wage, and both them and I put slightly more effort into what the customers want. The result is we can charge a bit less; which brings in more trade; and the effect snowballs.
Stop moaning, do that little bit extra for your customers, employ local staff and everybody is happy.

I'm sorry Drusilla but you don't seem to understand what free movement of labour and free movement of capital means. The first means workers can go anywhere in Europe and offer themselves for whatever wage the employer is prepared to pay. The second means employers are entitled to move their business to wherever they can find workers who aren't greedy and are prepared to work for what the employer decides to pay. I would have thought that was obvious and why Brexit is ridiculous economic idiocy.

Probably time to up sticks and move your hospitality business to Eastern Europe then.

But who will all those UKIP types votes for, Tinker? Surely not the only party that understands the needs of people like my hard working husband, the Lib Dems. We need a second referendum so people can vote properly this time. I still think people may feel ashamed of supporting Ukip, Putin and racism and do the right thing if they're given the chance.
