Anyone else had their cards cloned recently?
Both myself and Mrs have had out cash cards cloned and money taken out from abroad, so the pin has been seen as well.
The common places we use are cards are Tescos cashpoint, Tescos Pay at Pump, and the cash machine opposite the station.
Yes I know we should cover out hands when putting in pins, so will be more on that, yet anyone one else recently had the same?

Hmm, the plot thickens...I too had cash attempted to be removed yet the bank caught it and stopped the card as it knew I was in the UK.

Yes. Had an automatic tele call from my bank last week saying my card had been stopped because of unusual spending activity. Seems my card had been used to subscribe (£39) to a web site named lottery 24. Banks are aware of web sites like this as they have low security and are often used to test out stolen cards before the thieves try and empty the account. Was told the card had likely been cloned and although the transaction was stopped I worry as I don't know how it happened in the first place. Being without a card for a week until the replacement arrived was a pain.

Me too. Apparently I was in Lewes and New York at the same time. Just spoken with bank and had the card cancelled. Will spend weekend going through old statements. From the posts above it appear to be recent.....I hope.

Hi Folks. I am not sure that this will help everybody but it has worked for me,I offer it in the spirit we have to fight them.
I was cloned once in a restaurant in London, and when I spoke with a security person from my bank he advised me to open a 2nd account and only keep in it enough for my needs, you get a second Debit card and top it up as and when you need it. Hope this helps anybody.

I've foiled the thieves by being permanently skint. Once I was burgled and after looking at all my worldly goods, they decided that nothing was worth taking.

Me too - £220 in New York. Have also used the Tesco pay at pump machine. Also, I remember a shop assistant looking at me entering my Pin the other day - I thought it was odd but didn't think too much of it until had call from the bank about the cash withdrawal in US... But I can't remember what shop it was - possibly one of the local ones on fringes of Lewes (don't want to libel anyone...)

I think the banks report it to the police so you'd hope they'd spot the pattern. I'm happy to alert them to this thread though, just in case.

Its been reported to Sussex Police. Hopefully they'll say something here. You should probably all report your thefts individually here though.

I got a call from my bank Saturday morning saying that they had stopped a cash machine withdraw of £240 from New York! This was on my business debit card, which is only ever used for paying for fuel from Tesco's Pay At The Pump!
Since that call, I have spoken to 4 other people who have had similar attempts on their cards, and all of them have used the Tesco's Pay At Pump in Lewes during the past 2 weeks.
I would have thought that this would have been a very secure way to pay, as there is no human contact with your card, so I can only assume it's a Tesco employee who is behind this.

Been on to Tesco and the police have given them the all clear. No skimmers and nothing on CCTV.
I have emailed Sussex police to report my incident and requested updates to the progress of the investigation.

Update from the police below, apparently they do not the resources to look through CCTV or contact us, have nice new offices though.

Our local policing team will be aware of multiple issues happening in an area however if there is no confirmed line of enquiry (i.e. specific CCTV that shows someone placing on/removing a skimming device) - it will be a matter for Action Fraud. Without knowing which pump the device was fitted to, or when, our officers I am afraid would not be viewing all the CCTV over a period of days, at various points, as we would not have the resources. If your bank have reimbursed any fraudulant deductions - they will be the victim for any crime report and will advise us direct.
If you have had an unauthorised transaction on your bank card then this should be reported to you bank. They will investigate through their fraud department and any information they identify which can be referred for investigation will then be forwarded to the appropriate police force for any necessary action. Every police force has a designated Single Point of Contact for dealing with fraud matters. You can also report any suspicions you have via Action fraud which is a national reporting centre for fraud.

I also had a call at the end of last week from my bank - two attempts to take money in New York - one for £121 which apparently went through and the other for £240 which didn't. And, yes, I used the pay at pump at Tescos.
