This has been gone over before...bascially they are all the same. Foc & Sons, Lewes Estates, Cubitt and West, Wycherelys...take your pick
NOT A GOOD TIME TO MOVE THOUGH

Wycherleys are good but tend to overvalue and Lewes Estates advertising is excellent (in my opinion) and are very professional and enthusiastic

Fingers crossed you may get a private sale through here. That will save a bit for you.

Thankyou so much for the advice. I always hear bad comments about Lewes Estates so will probably stear clear of them.

We're currently looking to move within Lewes. We need a bigger place.
We've been looking on and off for a year so have some experience. In my opinion, they're all a bunch of lazy turfs.
However, I would say it's about personalities not companies. We really like Vanda at Clifford Dann who seems to work that little bit harder for the potential buyers, which is ultimately good news for the seelers too since no one wastes time later.

Don't worry....whatever you put it on the market for, our ever faithful friends Mr and Mrs Smith will offer you an extra £20k

We had our house on the market last year with Wycherley and they would send anyone and everyone around at virtually any time - very annoying. It would have helped if they had told the buyers a little about the house first. I also had to chase them for feedback which was not always forthcoming. Cubitt & West had a higher value for our house and explained what would need to be done to make the house more pleasing and if a buyer was not forthcoming after a few weeks they would look at the layout of the rooms etc to improve the overall impression. Lewes Estates are very keen to get the business and say that they would only send people around who are under offer. You need to shop around and compare rates etc. Don't always go for the highest price but then again when you are given a price by an agent don't then let them tell you a £20K less offer is fair.

Yeah but what's the market like at the mo'? I reckon it's a great time to buy a Buy2Let (ignore the Daily Mail scare-mongers) especially in Lewes where the demand for rentals seems to be increasing ratehr than falling. And even if no-one is buying/selling then surely the rental demand will increase at the low end. Or a great time to rent something before the supply dries up. Just my opinion...

So ifClifford Dann are the most helpful who should I use for renting. I guess Strutt and Parker are goiing to be pricey? Who would Mr & Mrs Smith use?

There is something a bit suspicious about this thread.
Personally I'd avoid Lewes Estates... and I've always found Clifford Dann very efficient and very professional.

Not for yours F.A who but the lowest of the low would want to live in a rat infested hell hole like landport.

Clifford Dann are as corrupt as all the others, there is nothing special about them. They are marketing the Baxters development at the moment - when I enquired as a potential buyer (liar, liar pants on fire) I was told the most incredible porkies by the woman looking after the scheme (?Sue).
If I were forced to use an estate agent (spit), I'd probably go for Wycherley's as they are local and (generally) respected.

I sold mine through Wycherley's too - couldn't find any fault (and God knows I tried). I also tried Clifford Dann whom were both flippant and condescending. Thats all it takles to lose my interest. If you're looking for a conveyancing solicitor, I can't overemphasise how well things went with Clive Smith's help - operating out of Clifford Dann's 1st Floor.

Awww that's not very nice is it. No rats around here though Mr and Mrs Smith....just bloody Herons trying to eat my koi.
I wonder if you'd be brave enough to say the above without the luxury of your computer monitor to hide behind. Come and meet us in the Tally ho ! and i'm sure we could "discuss" your comments.
Why are you lowering yourselves with a move to malling (a place i grew up in)...surely Houndean rise or Cuilfail is your area

They (CD) are selling them but they're not the builders/developers so that's a tad unjust SOTP. As to corrupt - what did the lady say that got you riled? I just bought my flat through Wycherleys - a bit old fashioned for my taste - I like the Oakley's shop front much better!

I'd defo recommend Clive Smith - he did my flat with no problems at all.

Actually, we are thinking of selling our house but it comes with a sitting tennant. Her name is Ting Tong and she loves doing housework for free. Worth an extra £5,000 on top of the asking price so if you are interested, just look in Strutt and Parker's window (the big ass house with a yatch next to it) or Horse and Hound magazine.

Mr & Mrs Smith - what is wrong with Landport? You were thinking of moving to Queens Road, is that a more salubrious area?

We don't actually want to live there - oh no....don't be so silly. We want to buy a nice house for our darling princess who is going to attend Sussex University. She needs somewhere in a lowly area to party, that won't lower an already lowered area. But we draw the line at Landport. That's for the generation of teenage baby making ho's who have moved up a notch from Ousdale.

I think they're all pretty dire. Goign into wycherlies is like stepping back in time, so dont expect them to be very proactive when selling your house! cubit&west, fox&sons, rolland gorringe are ok i'm told but nothing spectacular. further down the street there is clifford dan in the big ugly building, have never used them before but go into the offices to see clive on occasion and their office looks tired & dated, trading mainly on past reputation i think! lewes estates annoy me by putting flyers through my door every week (it seems). i'd probably consider oakleys (next to halifax) as they seem very modern. their offices are nice too and friendly staff.
