I think we need a football stadium at Falmer
Its not as if supporters are going to be driving through the village for goodness sake.

I think Falmer is a sweet little village and should be left alone.
If Brighton whinges that it can't exist without a football team why not build it in....Hmmmmmmm Brighton???

It depends on what criterior you laydown before you chose an area S. L.
Assuming that genuine supporters (plus "X" amount of drunken, dim scum) will be imported from up and down the country every other week (more often if you include mid-week games, cup matches etc) then I guess good road and/or rail networks are a must.
The biggest/nearest road is the M23/A23.
If you drive a little way up the A23/M23 and look left and right you may notice, unlike Falmer, that it's fairly devoid of people... so lets start there...
I don't live in Falmer... and have very recently moved from Lewes (a resident for many, many years)so can be a bit impartial.
Falmer is a pretty place and I feel very sorry for the residents... noise, disturbance, disruption and hence a poorer way of life... all in the name of football.
If Falmer is the "ONLY" option and remembering that B & H is a business, I feel that they should be forced to pay ample compensation to all concerned.
Bet they find a bl**dy alternative then!
Of course... if you think a football stadium is a desirable feature to have upon your doorstep... then Lewes springs to mind.

I don't think you have read the background to this Phil.
There is no alternative site,if there was then of course the Albion would have taken it.
There would be alot of community gains from this development also.
Try looking on the Albion website for more info.

I also moved away from Lewes so am also impartial.

Yes to community gains... but also community losses.
On the subject of losses... football clubs have been known to go broke... unless you have a very rich Russian Uncle.

Part of the Albion,'s problem is they cant survive on the gate money they get now hence the urgent need for a need stadium.
Many people that want to watch Brighton cant because of the small ground they use now.

Sounds like a case of the proverbial chicken and the egg.
Would have thought that success (winning) meant a bigger crowd and not just the size of the stadium.
I envisage 30,000 seats... and 3000 bums...

The site for Brighton's proposed stadium is earmarked for development anyway so if Prescott does not give BHA the go ahead before the Election he will build houses on it instead after the Election..just something to think about.

Can't wait for the Seagulls to get the Falmer Stadium! The moment the stadium is built I'll buy a season ticket for myself and entire family. Top football only one stop away on the train.
Falmer's a small quaint place - but it ain't peaceful. Two University campus nearby, the A27 a railway line and huge traffic jams at rush hour. Improvements to the junctions around Falmer will improve the quality of life in the village I should think!
SEAGULLS!
