Whats going on up the Bottleneck? Cashbah Cafe seems to have been papered out and closed with 'New development Coming Soon' and the old Delilah Shop nr Brewers Arms also with lots of shelving and what looks like a Deli/Greengrocers in it which should replace the old greengrocers near Western Road which shut! Hope they re-open soon, and may they not be turned residential!

I hope you're right, Scary. We need more shops at the top of town, not less. And a town this size definitely needs a greengrocer - there were 5 when I moved here.

I saw a load of ducting going in the Casbah last week, bet its going to be another kebab shop, shame as I prefer the Cafe set up. Does anyone know who owns the Cafe now? Its had so many changes over the last few years - food is still awful.

I hope it is another kebab shop, the two we have charge waaaay too much - about £2-3 more than decent ones in Brighton

That's a shame about the Casbah closing down. It was the closest thing Lewes had to a 'greasy spoon'. Great food, well priced. Let's hope we get something similar again in its place. Enough with the carrot cake!

Agreed that Albion in Brighton is very good. The Lewes kebab shops also charge far too much so some competition might be good. A green grocers would be lovely too, as long as they charge reasonable affordable amounts of money.

We have a great "greasy spoon" Trevor - The Café in Nevill Road. The lady in there does a great breakfast, but shuts at 11 on a Saturday, so you have to be early.

I hear Delilah's is going to be turned in to a reasonably priced kitchen shop - bring it on, should give steamer trading a run for its money
