I do here however that South Street are doing Thomas the Tank Engine, again!
And Southover's will be so shoddy that it will again be unrecognisable. Certainly is the season!...

Does anybody in Bonfire societies care about what happens to all the elderly people , living on their own are going to be without a care worker visiting them on Nov 5th. ? Lewes is inaccessible , surely that's more important than a stupid effigy.

Care workers get a special pass to Lewes on bonfire night and so no one gets left out. They also get a police escort if they need to get from one end of the town to the other. I used to be a care worker and worked most bonfire nights as i live un lewes.

Thank you for the information, I don't understand why the Care Company rang to say they cannot attend my Father that night. However a great many of the carers do not live in Lewes so maybe this is why. I will phone to check.

If your care contract was negotiated by adult social care and you have been told by a private care company that they cannot visit you due to bonfire it might be worth phoning the resource officer or social worker to ensure that they are aware that the care call will be missed as they are probably not refunding you or the council. East Sussex are part of the negotiating safety group so have a contingency plan for care calls as they are also, along with the police, on of the agencies who request the outer road closures - the areas requested by the bonfire societies is quite small in comparison.
