Every Saturday the big issue' seller outside HBSC buys three coffee's from Nero's then just leaves the empty cups on the wall for someone else to deal with... And this week she has left some of her leaflets as well to blow round the high street. May be next week instead of giving money a bin bag or directions to the bin 10 feet away would be more meaningful.

Big Issue is for the homeless to sell to make a bob or two ( mostly funds their drink or drug habits) so excuse me if I find it strange that someone comes all the way from somewhere in Europe to be homeless.

Thin end of wedge facist on the forum as usual. Spineless miserable and no doubt racist. Why didn't you speak to the person? Did you pick up the cups or rush home to kick someone less fortunate than you? Get a life and have a read up on the meaning of Christmas.

The Big Issue was originally intended as a way to help homeless people get back on their feet. Many of today's sellers are Romanian gypsies who sell the magazine so that they can register as sell-employed and claim benefits. It could be argued that they are here because they are discriminated against in Romania and at least selling the Big Issue gives them an opportunity to gain an income with turning to crime, but with so much homelessness around, shouldn't the charity support genuine cases rather than economic migrants?

This may be true. If it is it is entirely preventable and the fault of UK government not doing their part to control immigration.
If someone has resorted to selling the big issue and claiming benefits to survive they can be sent back to their home country under EU migration laws as they cannot support themselves. Still a mystery why we have never enforced these rules yet continue to complain about the type of behaviour they would prevent?!
Why should a charity with limited funds be responsible for implementing immigration policy controls?

Those figures are utter rot Blatant Liar...
£35k sales is 17,500 magazines per year at £2 per magazine profit. They pay £1.25 per magazine and assuming £3.25 per sale which is 75p more than cover price. Seems fair.
There are 83k sales of Big Issue per week UK wide (see link) so at 335 per seller that's 250 sellers of the big issue in the UK. What a load of rot you're chatting.
