Best pub in Lewes for food & beer? Pt.2

Fantastic to read all this consumer research. Interesting that people are happy to consider pubs not in the town as well. On that note, try The Horns lodge @ Chailey, my new favourite as of a week ago last Friday. Doing a good trade and providing top notch food and drink. Dinner for 2, £45 inc tip, for two courses, drinks and coffee. Been meaning to go since it was taken over in 2008! Worth waiting for. I gave it the Ham & Egg & Chips test. Theory is, if they cock that up, they will cock everything up. I was delighted with what appeared, home prepared ham. two eggs, crispy chips........

Glad to hear you still might get the Trevor, Tony. I miss the walk over to Glynde, but can't really be arsed if there's no yummy grub at the other end.
Fantastic roast again on Sunday, btw - beef and pork both delicious.

Love the idea of the ham, egg & chips test! One of my fave meals. Must have it more often.

Following on from Pt 1, went to the Anchor in Barcombe a few weekends ago. Still crap, I'm afraid. Half Moon in Plumpton good, but v pricey for a pub. Snowdrop and Pelham Arms top notch. Kings Head nearly up there too.

You need to get out more if you think that is outrageous Boo Khaki. It sounds like it was a two course meal with drinks and coffee for two people for about £20 a head plus tip. I eat out quite a bit and if it was good quality at reasonable value you can work it out something along these lines. Starters (£4-£5), Ham egg and chips (£7-£8), Coffee (£1.50 - £2.00), two drinks (£6-£7). Total stands at £18.50 - £22,00 a head. Add on the tip and £45 for two looks pretty reasonable. Plenty of places around here would be charging about £10 more for that meal.
