I've tried them all, and I don't think there's one decent one. You might get the odd good meal once in a while, but none of them are reliable.

heard good reports about Carnival too....but they don't take debit or credit cards (or at least they never used too)
had a takeaway from Beijing on saturday and to tell you the truth, it's getting a bit boring now. Yummy yummy's is always good too and apparently, the new one down Lansdown place is pretty good.

For such a large selection of Chinese Takeaways, i think all are very disappointing, and also no consistancy in the quality. My favourite was the Bamboo Garden in Landsdown Place, but since they closed one has not seemed to step up for our regular custom. We prefer to just buy the ingredients now and cook at home: much nicer, probably healthier, hot when you eat it and no funny tummy the next day!

oooh - good point Peterpan - what IS the new Chinese like?
Used to adore the old one there - quick - decent opening hours - close to the station
what is overall opinion of the replacement folks?

We have a Yummy Yummy every week, and we have never had a bad one. Biggest disappointment? The Panda Garden-worst prawn toasts I have ever eaten in my life.

Yummy Yummy is great and free delivery if you spend more than a tenner, brilliant. Used to love the Bamboo Gardens!

Thanks for all your tips :-)
We had Yummy Yummy and it was Ok & enjoyed by all. Personally i prefer an Indian but the kids loved the sweet and Sour Chicken! The prawn toast was excellent, the crispy duck was dry and over cooked (or reheated!) but i would go there again.

Nearly all chinese takeaway food is the same - you sometimes see them taking delivery of massive boxes of prawn toast, ribs, etc. There's really not much difference between them. Still tasty, but there you go.
