I wanted an itemised Bill from BT so I might check whether a Company actually rang me & left me an answer phone message a couple of weeks ago. I think that they didn't..
I seem to remember being able to scrutinise your outgoing calls and 'incoming calls' on your BT itemised bill. Or have I imagined that ever happening.. Is it only your outgoing calls that can be itemised?
So I tried 'Contact BT's Text Chat' to find out..
Ms Manisha from BT (more than likely situated half way round the world from GB) said BT have never had that facility and signed off saying, It was nice chatting with you, have a lovely day. Bye. Take care
Slightly annoying & frustrating..

You wanted an itemised bill to prove whether a company called you? Sounds like you have a lot of time on yr hands...

Yes I am pretty sure we had that facility. They must be able to do it for you.

BT quite happy to charge extra for paper bills, but more than happy to send regular advertising bumph for nothing !! Why not just put the bills in with it as they used to. #moneygrabbers

If you pay your BT line rental for a year in advance, you can not only save money but also get caller display free.
If you buy a BT6500 phone you can program it to reject witheld numbers, or international numbers. You will still be pestered by junk callers in this country who do not withold their numbers, however.
But the BT6500 will record the last few numbers to call you; including "no number"- with the times and dates. Other phones on the market will record details of incoming calls.
I have also found that if you call BT during office hours, you will speak to an English adviser- not a disinterested call centre worker on the othr side of the world.
I hope this advice helps.

Claire why do you say that?
Is it due to your idle curiosity and really needing to know all the ins & outs?
OK then.. I was expecting a company to come to my home to fit something that would take them two days to fit and they didn't turn up! When I rang them they said they had left a message on the 10th August saying that they wouldn't turn up. I dispute that.. Claire I think its you that has time on her hands replying with time wasting statements like the one you made.
I've had to give up and put it down to another wasted day and time & effort.. Thanks everyone for your supportive replies.

thank you Sussex Jim ! We've paid our line rental in advance for a few years now and always had caller display, didn't think anything of it, then suddenly a letter arrived saying caller display was extra, pay up or don't have it. We decided we could live without it and thought it was our actual handset that displayed it automatically. However, PPI spammers and even an oven cleaning company drove us mad, it was strange answering the phone not knowing who it was. So your post saying it was free, if one paid annually was enlightening. Today, BT agreed to reinstall free caller display and apologised for deleting it. No compo though ! Thanks.
