Apparently we have come up with some new ideas to solve the issue. Unfortunately they are not new and have already been rejected. BBC acting as the government spokesman is not how it's meant to be.
Option 1: NI voters can have referendum to end backstop if they want to after 5 years. Already rejected as it allows UK to unilaterally leave without any need to provide an actual border solution.
Option 2: If UK agrees to change it's red line and stay in the single market then the EU should let us do this without freedom of movement. Err, what now? Basically undo the entire premise of the EU because we want single market access with no FoM.
Option 3: Ireland leaves the EU customs union creates a different joint one. Removing border checks on NI/Republic border but putting them in place for Ireland to EU trade. So ask Ireland to take on a load of border problems of their own, problems that are already causing UK economic damage.
The arrogance of the proposals and lack of actual journalism, simply repeating what people say, is rubbish.

@fairmeadow. That's disingenuous, first up we aren't being forced to leave. Second, it is the UK that has rejected the proposal that would solve this.

Why do pro leave MPs reject it? It's us leaving with an agreement to avoid a hard border and take a few years to put in place a solution to it. Given our MPs talk of how we don't need to do anything or a border not being against the GFA you can understand the EU not agreeing to let UK unilaterally end the backstop. Without this we go no deal so the ball is in our court. Probably should have realised the EU was listening when the spouted that rubbish.
