Labour got what they deserved, you cannot fight an election on the back of a class war. The mansion tax unquestionably has been a massive vote looser with all the Labour floaters and not admitting to over spending in their last term was unforgivable.
Where Labour go from here is anyones guess but it has to be back towards the centre.
When the Tories gave the Scotts their referendum this is exactly what they hoped would come from it. Labour have got a lot to do to get the vote back.

The Question Time session in which the PM and whatsisname appeared was the only one I have ever seen when some effort was made to get a balanced audience. You did not, for once, get an easy clap every time you said “spend", and you saw that left wingers were not the only ones who were angry.
Milliband, confronted with being told to stop lying about over spending, tried his schoolboy debater lines and they dropped like cow pats. The audience became contemptuous and it seemed like a pivotal moment to me .
Or maybe it was Russell Brands endorsement ?

For once, I agree with Boris: you can't fight an election on the basis of a class war. No-one likes to accept that they are at the bottom of the heap.
The Tories seem to think it's acceptable to govern on the basis of a class war though, and attack the poor, the sick and the vulnerable. They defined the terms, not their political opponents.

Labours time will come again Boris/Paul. When things get really bad. At the moment this country has been turned into selfish homeowners this side of the border but this is set to change in a generation and then poeple will come back to Labour.

Aah.. Billy Bennett. The world would be a very different place if that book was read in schools. I didn't need to Google it. Didn't it take something like 50 years to reach publication?
