I vote that we make a pub exactly the same as the volunteer so all the upstanding members of the community have somewhere else to go :-) seriously tho Another resteraunt would be fine if if was different i.e not indian/chinese/italian/poncy/bloody expensive or a crap greasy spoon. Bet ole billy boy has his eye on expansion. Just think bills taking over that whole area so all the posers have some more space to pose in. I wouldn't say no to a mexican resteraunt, but equally a HMV would go down a storm. On a side note we could do with an antique shop or what about a charity shop :-)

Well I did hear it from a business person who knows a few things around town. And no, it wasn't Gordon at the Newsagent either! (another useful insider!) - I'm still amazed that Bill's gets away with all his stuff all over the place, especially blocking the lane.... that must annoy Argos delivery drivers! - He sure is a cheeky bugger.

It'll be a great shame if Argos does go as it's very handy for lots of different stuff. And as The Rev says 'not another bloody restaurant'. Still, it might put the long room out of business, and that can't be a bad thing.

Well I'd like to see an adult store open up in Lewes, the Argos shop would be ideal, sex toys and videos downstairs, fitting rooms upstairs. Nice.

Forget all the chains tores you can find in Brighton. What this town needs is a decent bakery.

Totally agree. A decent independant bakery would be excellent. Why do some of you have it in for Bills?? They work hard and produce bloody good food and attract business to the Cliffe. If his food is a tad arty then go the cafe across the road for an excellent breakfast.

I think it's Bill and his ways that people don't like such as blocking up the street and Bear lane with his chairs and tables... it's not his land and I can't see why Argos haven't complained years ago. But I agree it's a good business.

What can you have against the long room? Nick who runs it bought the property so we wouldnt have some crappy Marks & Spencers, hes set up a pleasant brasserie, where i like to go for a drink or a bite to eat, best of all the slightly higher prices ensure its a chav free zone. I think if argos goes, an HMV would be nice, and maybe get octave to lower their goddamn prices (though it would be sad if it ran octave out of business), i think it would be great if another local businessman buys the argos building and turns it into another independant business, the less franchises and multinational corporations in lewes, the better!

Is Forfars too much of a walk?!
Bills would be good to open a budget version of his shop in the Argos building It's too big for a fast food joint and wouldn't get permission anyway - similar restrictions exist in St Andrews (the golf town) so they got a Subway instead - but they don't need that much space.
Perhaps they'll knock it down to make a free car park? Har har.

stop dissing bills dudes! you're just jealous cos you cant afford it ! hehe! or....you're not good looking enough to get a job there!! bill has no choice but to put his tables and chairs outside, because it is so so popular! and......he can get away with it!! is the display not attractive? sure, the food is overpriced, but it's the best food you'll find in lewes, made with the best ingrdients from all over the world presented in such a way, you cant say no! freshly made everyday...not reheated in the microwava ala pizza express, ask...ect...people come from far and wide to visit this completely one off restaurant, so lewisians should be proud of it! we're opening a store in brighton at the end of the month....so argos is of no interest to bills. besides, he's already made his millions .............suckers!!!!
